Donāt order cakes from this place. Owner also has a bad attitude and poor customer service. First photo was what they came up with for my wedding cake. Also included a photo of the text thread where I referenced the inspiration photo we had originally talked about.
After showing the business owner my inspiration photos and explicitly writing on my invoice "lowercase cursive", I thought we were on the same page. The decoration around the cake looks fine, but in my opinion, the lettering looks like it was written by a 5 year old. I honestly think I could've piped better lettering than their baker.
I did politely ask for a partial refund due to the lettering, since we had talked about it being in cursive. Not to mention how ugly the penmanship is. The business owner ignored my request for a full day until I texted her again to which she responded "Iām sorry that youāre not happy with how the font turned out on your cake. Although I did mention that fonts may vary, I completely understand your disappointment. I truly appreciate your feedback and will use it to improve moving forward." She never said āfonts may varyā when we talked in store - so now sheās lying.
After $100 for a tiny 6" cake, this is a funny story of expectations and then an unfortunate reality. I deducted 1 star for the poor quality lettering, another star for the poor response, another star for the overall taste for $ value, and a final star for the size of the cake...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is my 2nd time at Shilla bakery, but first time at this location.
Shilla bakery basically carries the same baked goods as the other 4-5 neighboring bakeries, but they are individually packed (which is a super plus for me). There were so many pastries and gorgeous cakes to choose from. The price point is also the same as the nearby bakeries.
I was curious to try their Dubai chocolate pistachio latte or the pistachio cream latte given those are the latest craze, but I wasn't in the mood. Additionally, they didn't have the prices on the printed papers placed on the counter. They sell plain coffee, but it was way too overpriced to want to get.
I only tried 2 pastries that I haven't seen elsewhere: Almond Kant ($3.75) and Tiramisu Bun ($3.50). I actually enjoyed the first one, it was super sweet and a little oily but still yummy. The 2nd one was okay, I didn't realize there was cream in the middle, subtle sweetness.
The customer service..well, not much to say. The guy was just standing there, didn't even greet us. They aren't overly friendly, but just enough.
I haven't really looked around to see if the place is clean because I was so focused on finding the right pastry to satisfy my craving that day. There is outdoor seating available in front of the bakery, nothing fancy.
They have plenty of parking in front of the bakery, shared by neighboring vendors.
Would I return? definitely! I need to try the cakes...
