Tilly Kitchen Food Hall — Restaurant in Chantilly

This was my first time visiting this place. I knew I wanted to visit because I've been passing by Tilly Kitchen for months every time I was in the area and because of Yelp reviews.

The building itself shows "Tilly Kitchen" but is actually a food hall with 2 separate businesses inside...Tilly Kitchen (Korean food) and Gavi Brunch Cafe. I originally came here knowing I wanted to order the Portobello Mushroom sandwich, but decided to check out the Tilly Kitchen menu. This is a brilliant idea, and i feel like they probably could've added more (smaller) businesses).

I ordered the Tteokbokki with bacon (less spicy)...but without the bacon. I've been seeing this dish trending a couple years ago and had to try it. It was pretty good, maybe next time I'll try the spicy one. They have so many other menu items: ramen, small bites, sushi, etc.

There is a lot of seating available, inside near the counters, a separate inside area away from the counters and outside. The decoration is very nice, but they looked like fake leaves/plants. There is a self-ordering kiosk for the Tilly Kitchen menu. Staff is just exceptionally friendly; I felt uncomfortable just leaving the dishes there for them to clean up.

I would return for sure, to try other items on the menu for...

20240706 Ordered the Spicy Dupbop with pork belly. It was good but too much sauce and not spicy. 2 years earlier...I was so excited to try this place. The exterior is still in construction. The interior is spacious and the menu is huge... so many items that sounded so yummy. I got the Bao with pork belly, and it was presented beautifully. Unfortunately, it only has 1 thin slice of pork belly and it lacked flavor. Recommend adding another slice of pork belly and a little more sauce. I ordered the spicy seafood dupbop. It was spicy and it has shrimp, octopus, onion and cabbage over rice. It was OK. I expected more flavor. For almost $14, I expected better and with a larger variation of seafood. I spent a little over $25 included tip. I rather take my money and go to another Korean restaurant or Japanese Restaurant. My friend, who is Korean, got a noodle dish with spam, hot dog, tofu, with rice. He had to add salt because it was blend. He wasn't impressed either. Maybe it's the dishes we ordered, or maybe the chef was different, I'm not sure why the positive reviews. My friend also counter about 8 surveillance cameras and I saw one above the door into the ladies bathroom. Im not sure why they need this...

I am going to give a fair review, breakfast & coffee here are amazing, no doubt!

HOWEVER, the Asian guy who is at the front desk handing out coffee needs to fix his attitude, especially, HOW HE HANDLE CUSTOMER!!! You can see like how in the photo - my order was given with food + coffee together, so I wasn’t really paying attention until I took a first sip of the coffee, and realized that was the wrong coffee order. I don’t mind paying for another new coffee, but instead of apologizing to customer, he just came to my table and confront me & my husband about taking the wrong order! (As you see in the photo, he put coffee and my food together like this with even my order number recipe, it wouldn’t be a surprising anyone could assumed it was the correct (coffee + food order).

At the end, I ended up offering to pay for a new coffee order. As you see, I’m not a stingy person, if I took the wrong order (even it was their fault for putting wrong coffee order with my food) I don’t mind paying for additional one. However, the fact that he came to confront us and not even saying sorry for even 1 time, he better fixed his attitudes and customs service skills before thing became worse with other...
