My family decided to venture out for a nice dinner after living in a hotel for the past 5 days from being displaced from Hurricane Florence where a mandatory evacuation was put into effect in our home town, Jacksonville, North Carolina (Onslow County). After being stressed and confined to our rooms because we are at a point we don’t know the condition of our homes or belongings we decided to venture out and leave all worries aside to enjoy a nice dinner. The service we received from the start was horrible as we were a party of four who walked in prior to a party of two who were greeted and seated before we were even acknowledged. It’s as if you are a local or a frequent customer, you are not really welcome...bad way to run a business! We should have walked out at that point, but after driving 20 minutes to the location we stayed hoping service would improve, but it surely did not. We had to ask for appetizer plates, napkins, utensils, to-go containers (3) times, a glass of ice for a canned inks cola and so forth. When the food was delivered, not one person asked if all was good or if we needed anything else...we had to hunt down the check and not once were we thanked for coming it. It could be that I looked more Caucasian than Hispanic, but regardless all should be treated equally.
I have many friends that relocate or visit this area due to being in the military and I will ensure to provide them fare warning not to visit. Nobody deserves they type of service we received.
On a side note, the food was decent, they did leave off an arepa for the Paisa Bandeja Plate that was ordered.

Read moreMy family and I decided to celebrate my sister's engagement and I insisted to go to Don Churro. Worst mistake I made!!!, I ruined a nice dinner thanks to the wonderful staff. A girl sat us down and completely forgot about us. She didnt put any plates down or silverware or bother to ask if we needed anything. Finally, she came over to get our appetizer order and completely ignored us again. Finally, another server came apologize because they forgot about us and took our order in. We ordered a pitcher of chicha and they forgot to put sugar, lemon, etc. My sister order two empanadas, you could tell that those were from the previous day or from two days ago. I started noticing tables that came after us got their food on time or before us and this made me extremely upset. We didnt order hard to make dishes on the contrary, we order the easiest dishes to prepare like ceviche, causa, etc.
The reason, I recommended Don churro to my family is because I once had ceviche there with my co-workers and it was pretty decent. However, after this I will think twice before recommending this place again. It was the worst 44.00 dollars, I spent. My family and I decided to go to honey pig instead and it was a completely different experience.

We indulged in the Ceviche de Puerto, a delightful combination of fish, octopus, calamari, shrimp, cilantro, aji, and leche de tigre, all enhanced by a zesty, lemony sauce that was simply refreshing. The Bistec de Barrio wowed us with a perfectly cooked NY strip steak, alongside flavorful meats like chorizo and chicharrón, served with yucca, plantains, a fried egg, and rice, all elevated further with a tantalizing chimichurri sauce. The Arroz con Mariscos, their take on paella, was packed with fresh seafood and a burst of flavors.
Every dish was authentic and delicious, incredibly well-priced, and served in generous portions. The staff provided quick and friendly service, improving the...
