If I did not have such a weakness for their breadsticks, I would have stopped coming to this Pizza Hut years ago. I have lived in Chapel Hill my whole life, and for as long as I can remember the service at this particular establishment has been terrible - so much so that as a child my Dad would insist on driving almost an hour away to go to a different Pizza Hut in another town.
I have had numerous terrible experiences with this Pizza Hut. For one thing, as everyone else has pointed out, the delivery times are horrendously long. I've just come to accept this though and try to work around it. On one occasion, I ordered a small personal pan pizza and breadsticks. The order showed up around 2 hours after I ordered it, and the delivery driver had no change. I had indicated on my order that I planned to pay in cash, and all I had was a $20. The order was only about $9, so I basically ended up having to give this guy an $11 tip for taking 2 hours to drive a cold pizza half a mile down the road.
Tonight, I wanted pizza and felt I could be hungry in the foreseeable future, so I decided to take a gamble on a pick up order rather than delivery. Now, I understand that it's a Friday night during dinner time, but the scene inside the Pizza Hut was absolute chaos (despite there being no dine in customers). First of all, there were about 10 employees behind the register, most of whom were just standing around and getting in the way of people who seemed to be at least making an attempt at doing their job. I'm waiting in line, and I hear the woman in front of me has been there for 45 minutes trying to get her pizza and the employee behind the register is trying to explain to her that they are out of thin crust pizzas, which is what she had ordered. It was finally my turn to be helped. A seemingly nice man asked me my name, and then looked around, yelling at various employees that all the tickets had gone missing. He then asked me what I ordered. I told him a large pan, and he said "Well you won't be getting a large pan because we're out of those." Then he just disappeared, and I was left waiting there alone at the counter. Meanwhile, there were two employees at the register having an argument because one kept clocking the other out. Finally a very friendly woman helped me and actually went searching for my pizza while her coworkers rallied off a list of excuses as to why they didn't know where it was. I ended up getting almost what I ordered except the wrong size on the wrong crust.
I mean really, I just don't understand how this location has been this bad for so many years. I understand there's a high turnover rate for their employees, which would explain why it seems like none of them has any idea what's going on (or even that they work at a business that's expected to provide pizza in exchange for money). It's very clear that the biggest problem with this place is gross mismanagement.
Save yourself the trouble - either go to Domino's or pick up from a different Pizza...
Read moreI not really the “reviewing” type but this one is absolutely necessary. I placed and order yesterday for 10 pizzas at Domino’s (the one adjacent from this Pizza Hut) and they were scheduled for pickup at 10:30am this morning. They called me at 10:35 while on my way up there for pick up to let me know that no one showed up for work and my order wasn’t going to be ready until hours later. I had have these pizzas for for an event at 11am and it wasn’t looking like that was going to happen. By chance I called Pizza Hut and was fortunate enough to get in contact with Leah who answered the phone. I explained my situation and she told me to come pick the 10 pizzas up in 20 min. I got there in 15 and not only were the pizzas ready but she provided us with plates and napkins for our event and even helped carry it all to my truck. She went above and beyond to help us and the entire staff was both helpful and friendly. We will forever be loyal Pizza Hut customers after this and highly recommend this specific location! On top of the amazing service the pizzas were perfectly prepared and we made it just in time for our event. Thanks again Leah and the team...
Read moreThis Pizza Hut is AWFUL! There was basically no one in the store to begin with, yet it still took 5 minutes for someone to seat us. We were told that someone would be with us shortly, but it was another 5 minutes before anyone was. The waitress asked our drink order, and after forgetting it and asking it again 3 times finally got our drinks. She took our order, came back because she forgot it, and left. Before the pizza even came she already brought the bill. We asked her on 3 separate occasions if she could change the channel on the TV so we could watch a game. We would understand if she simply couldn't, but she said yes each time and it never happened. Our pizza came and was pretty good, but within 5 minutes she came back and rudely asked us to pay because she wanted to clock out and go home. We paid and asked for a box. She said she'd be right back and left. We could see her in the back of the store, and watched her clock out, put on her jacket, grab her purse, and proceed to stand around and talk to the other employees. We ended up just grabbing our own box off the counter and leaving. Absolutely the worst service I have...
