This place was awesome.
A.C.'s is definitely a dive bar, but I can say it was the best burger and fries I've had in a long time, maybe the best in Charleston. I went in for a quick bite while staying close by, I ended up there for 6 hours!
I had a few drinks and played pool with buddies and the college kids. A.C.'s Bar and Grill has a great vibe, the bartenders are nice, food service was fast and efficient, with a screen that would display your order # for pickup at the kitchen window. The chef was very friendly as well.
The pool tables were easy to work into, and man these folks are good. It is $1 per round, and there is an ATM if you need cash. There's a decent amount of seating, both at the bar and in the booths. Standing room can get crowded at a certain point, especially with people keeping clear of the pool tables. The bar can become crowded but everyone was good with queueing.
The locals know how to party and keep it classy. We were there until closing time and there was never an incident involving fighting, yelling, cops, etc....
❗My only complaint is the overhead vents or pipes would consistently drip water— on your clothes, food, and drinks. I slipped a few times as well from the puddles that would form on the floor. This could be a one-time or seasonal thing due to humidity and the air conditioning. As I am not a local, I will give them a pass, just maybe mop it...
Read moreIt's a prime example of a dive bar. That whole in the wall where the drinks are great and the food is pretty great also. I used to live right above here and this was my first time in there. I am mad now that I am just getting to experience this food. I had the buffalo chicken tenders and omg they were so good. I'd say top 3 if not number 1. It was so packed and they allow people to do pretty much anything. One of the people I was with was having to deal with a person sitting on the back of the booth with her rear end damn near on her head. When asked if she could move back a little bit was uncomfortable she was told no and given some other rude comments and then she scooter forwards her more . While that is the atmosphere in there it's not for everyone and maybe not a place I could spend alot of time. Also when getting my food , you order at the bar and the wait for your number to pop up the go to the window and retrieve it. The guy cooking was being very cocky. He ignored me when I was trying to ask him something and even looked at me and rolled his eyes and kept singing . They were not wearing gloves ad when I asked for more sauce cups I was again ignored. I'll let it slide because the chicken tenders redeemed the whole experience. I'd say try the place out ,overall not...
Read moreHello, I was kicked out without explanation. Before you judge that statement, I’m a college student visiting my family. I had 2 beers exactly (didn’t even finish the second) My brothers go to Charleston and I was here for the weekend. The bar was wonderful up until somebody walked up and said “ you need to leave now.” I responded with silence and walked out. I figured he’d explain what was going on at the door. He didn’t say anything. Regardless, just explain to people why you’re throwing them out. I was there with my family and was told to leave with no explanation. I’m sure if given the opportunity he would’ve realized he had the wrong guy. Thank you. And please don’t take my review the wrong way, the bar was cool, but what your employee did… that was above me. Also I’m refraining from referencing the employee because I understand he was just doing his job, but please just talk to people when throwing them out, sometimes you got the wrong guy. Also the bar is awesome besides that. I was enjoying myself throughly and enjoyed watching some people go...
