This was our first hibachi grill experience since moving to South Carolina.
!!NOT IMPRESSED!!
Food…. 90 percent fried rice, only onion no other veggies or egg. Steak, chicken and shrimp were cooked very well and were tasty. Vegetables only consisted of onion and zucchini (very small serving)
Service…. Our party of 5 was promptly seated on time for our reservation. Drinks, orders, salad and soup was very fast. Chef showed up and started cooking just as our soup and salad arrived. I had mentioned it was my wife’s birthday and as the chef was cooking the guy came over with a drum and noticed we were focused on the cooking. He left to go do other birthdays but never returned to our table. Sherbet was served right after the food was complete. Maybe 5 minutes after the grill was cleaned another server came over with a manager to start boxing our food. We felt pressured to finish our food or box it up. Our food was boxed and the check was paid 40 minutes after being 1st seated. I walked past the manager and stated we had only been seated 40 minutes before and my wife never got her Birthday recognized. I told him I didn’t appreciate being rushed out like that. He apologized and that was the end. While in the lobby I was waiting for family to use the restroom. I asked the hostess what the table cycle time typically is and what the goal is. She stated 1 hour but it’s more like an hour and 15 minutes. I told her we were pressured to start boxing our meal after about 30-35 minutes and she said “oh my gosh, did you talk to any one.” I told her I spoke with a manager on the floor and she walked off to go find him. She came back and said sorry about that and that was the end. I just felt like maybe they would have offered a gift card or something to encourage a second visit. Nope, just a “I’m sorry.”
We all ended up eating our leftovers when we got home because none of us had finished at the restaurant.
We will not be back. There must be better alternatives in the...
Read moreOur chef literally had to scrape our scallops off of the grill, because they were so burnt black and crusty, and instead of tossing them, and possibly calling a manager over to replace the scallops that had literally been on the grill for over 20 minutes he served them to us after chopping them up and trying to drown them in butter and soy sauce, to make them edible, which they were not. After coming here for 10+ years to celebrate birthdays I have to say this is so disappointing to have to write a bad review for one of our favorite restaurants. I made a reservation for 7 people several days earlier, the day of, I received a confirmation for 2 people, I called the restaurant and explained that they made the mistake and that our reservation was wrong. The lady on the phone was so rude, no apology, no, I’m so sorry someone made a mistake, we will be happy to accommodate you, because we made the mistake. Instead, she acted like I was trying to pull a fast one and sneak an extra five people in on our reservation. Then she insisted that they couldn’t accommodate us at 6 o’clock, so we had to come in at 6:30. Fine, no big deal, you made a mistake, but we will be inconvenienced. Didn’t get seated until after 7 PM. They squeezed nine people into our table so one person in our party had to sit on a corner like an afterthought. The chef didn’t speak to us basically the entire time, performed one little bowl flip, and then just proceeded to over cook everything we ordered with the exception of our steak. This restaurant used to be the epitome of amazing food and entertainment, and now they just shuffle everyone in like cattle, and could really care less if people have a bad dining experience after spending over...
Read moreI am going to make this as short a sweet as possible. We have been going to this establishment for years even through all the name changes, Miyabi, Yokoso etc. We come here for special occasions or when I don’t feel like cooking. We decide to make a reservation and bring our family here with a party of 20. I wish I had known better. There has definitely been a change in managers and hostesses, all new faces. We arrived at 4:30 for our reservation. The hostess said she had to do a head count. I understood that and I also let her know there were 4 people waiting in the car as 2 people were in wheel chairs. The lobby was full and no where else to sit. Per her request we could not sit until everyone was inside. So we got everyone inside. We are still waiting it is now 5:13 at this point. We ask if everything is ok. We were told yes and that our timer had started for us to be seated. We see a family of 18 walk in with no reservations and are seated within 10 minutes. We go and ask the hostess when we will be seated. We find out that our reservation had been switched to a walk in and we would not be seated until 7:50! For this to happen on my child’s Sweet 16 dinner was very disappointing and highly unacceptable. Thanks to Sake House for for accommodating our party and making sure we were happy. I am in the hospitality business and will no longer recommend this establishment as racial profiling was very evident on this evening. I have voiced my concerns to their...
