Stay, stay stay…
“Please Mr. Custer, I don’ wanna go!” was what I said to ‘self in the gold framed mirror when I had to check out of the Cooper Suite at the Town & Country Inn.And apparently, I am not the only one who has to tear herself away from the new ‘luxe accommodations. The front desk staff told me that, frequently, people are extending their stays. I have booked into 4 & 5-star hotels from the Middle East, to Southeast Asia and New Zealand, and I must say that the brand-new suites and rooms here have “it,” it being quality, soundproof construction, luxurious bedding, contemporary décor, etc. And for 2-star prices! My second-story Cooper Suite overlooked the courtyard pool, (another major plus) and yet its most memorable attribute was the glamour bathroom, a cross between Hollywood and Cannes, with green polished granite and double doors as its grand entrance. It was the size of a NY studio apartment. I felt like a screen siren luxuriating in the over-sized Air Bath, which is a new concept in animated bathing. More subtle than a Jacuzzi, its hydro-motion coupled with the firm, high-end, mattress, was soothing for my sore back. I had the best, good-night sleep in recent memory. My evening had begun with a frosty, margarita, followed by a trip to the salad bar. Somewhat retro? Maybe, but I loved the variety and fresh produce, house-made dressings and soup. Shrimp and grits was my classic, Lowcountry choice. The “homemade” breakfast buffet was a great way to go out the door. It had real eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and more. At the limited-service, chain hotels (this inn is family-owned and managed), breakfast comes in little boxes, and you microwave your...
Read moreWe stayed at this Inn during a visit to Charleston, because the on line ad and inset map made it look a lot closer to Charleston center. Although we got over that, we really weren't pleased with the suite. We upgraded to a suite from a standard room to give our teenage daughter a little more space and privacy, so she was on the other side of the admittedly large room using a pull out sofa as a bed. On the first night the air mattress deflated every 60-90 minutes, leading to a terrible night's sleep for all of us. I explained what happened at the front desk and they said they would have the mattress swapped out when we were out at Patriot Point for the day. That night, same result with the air mattress! So very frustrating because whether they swapped it out to another one with a considerable leak or they just didn't swap it, we had two nights in Charleston that were largely uncomfortable due to lack of quality, drama free sleep, which left us lacking energy throughout the day in the extreme heat.
When we checked out I informed the front desk again, and they apologized and said management would reach out to me and they were going to likely adjust the bill. Needless to say, we have heard from the hotel and they charged us the full amount, which we find unacceptable. I own and operate a small business and I would be out of business within a year if I didn't find customers what they paid for, and/or find a way to make up for it in such instances where I fall short of expectations. As a side note, the kitchen sink struggled to drain water so we ended up not using it, and the faucet was loose and rotated when you tried...
Read moreTHIS IS BY FAR THE BEST HOTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED AT! My husband and I decided to stay here for my birthday weekend and I was extremely impressed from the time I stepped foot into the lobby, till the time I had interacted with some of the staff and completely blown away by the upscale, luxurious and really clean room! I'm pretty sure this is the BEST HOTEL IN CHARLESTON! Especially for the price, which I was in complete shock about because it was so affordable, but completely jaw droppingly beautiful. The food smelled wonderful, although we didn't get a chance to taste it. The pool area was beautiful! Everything looked like something out of a luxury magazine! Most times when you see pictures of hotel rooms, and then you get there and it looks nothing like the pictures!? Well this looked better than the pictures! To me, the pictures couldn't do the hotel justice. Btw as we were checking in, the front desk lady noticed my birthday was the day before and she told me Happy Birthday. I was shook! She was friendly, competent and checked us in rather quickly. I wish I would've gotten her name because she was on it and deserves a raise! Also my husband and I were trying to figure out where our rooms were at, and this nice cleaning lady seen us confused and asked if we needed any help, she then pointed us in the right direction. How thoughtful!? I wish I would've gotten her name too. All in all I absolutely can not wait to go back to this hotel! The best hotel experience...
