Great hotel, super nice staff, but deeply disappointed with the gym setup. I've seen better gyms at budget hotels such as the Hampton Inn, for example. The gym caters almost exclusively to cardio workouts, which is a true bummer for people looking for weight resistance training. The gym is essentially a broom closet with two treadmills, two spinning machines, and a sad weight bench with a free barbell weight set that only goes up to 50 lbs. Please, please, PLEASE upgrade the gym here, especially since the actual hotel and staff are so nice. It is embarrassing and disappointing to see such a limited gym facility. Management, if you're reading this, please take out a spinning bike and add a cable machine for the love of GOD. I can't get stronger here due to the limited equipment. What's worse is all the workout room walls are decorated with cheesy workout motivational quotes. They would be inspiring if the gym was up to snuff, but since it isn't, they ring hollow and cheesy. It is painfully clear this gym's setup and design were planned by someone who doesn't actually work out. If you're into building muscle on the road, this isn't the hotel for you.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times for work and I’m very pleased with this hotel. The location is right off King street and is walkable to all sorts of food and shopping options. If you’re having a hard time deciding what to eat or where to go the staff here is very knowledgeable of the area and is helpful in providing suggestions. If you want to stay in, the bar area from 5pm-9pm is a great place to grab a drink and/or bite to eat. The bartender/mixologist Ron is an expert at his craft and makes the best drinks. Chef Terry is a Johnson and Wales culinary graduate and can really throw down in the kitchen. I’ve been too busy eating during my stays and have never been to the gym or pool but this hotel offers both amenities and I’ve heard they’re nice. The rooms I’ve stayed in have been both clean and comfortable. Staff is great. The GM is awesome and is extremely motivated to make this a ā€œmust stayā€ hotel here in Charleston. Dedication to customer satisfaction is something that is not at all overlooked here.

We stayed here over Labor Day weekend. The service at the desk on check-in was really good. Our flight getting into CHS was delayed by 5 hours which resulted in us arriving exceptionally late. The agent at the desk took care of us no problem. Valet parking was expensive ($35 a night), there are cheaper parking options nearby. The room was subpar, food from the previous guest was still in the fridge, room smelled musty, the bed was slightly uncomfortable, the shower floor was chipping, the shower drain grate was not anchored down. Usually I can look passed the negatives of the room because when I’m on vacation I tend to not be in the room much anyway, especially in a beautiful city like Charleston. The biggest problem for me didn’t arise during the stay but actually after I checked my credit card statement a few days after checking out. I found that they had charged the credit card I used at check-in ~$450 which was unexpected. Upon check-in they told me that the refundable damage deposit was $100 and valet parking is $35 a night. We did not damage the room. No folio of the charges was provided to me at checkout. I tried contacting the hotel a couple times to get it sorted out but got sent straight to voicemail each time. Ended up contacting Marriot corporate customer support for a copy of the bill who then reached out to the hotel on my behalf. Received an email from the hotel today stating, ā€œone of the agents accidentally charged the MasterCard on file ending in xxxx. I did process a refund. Please see payment in account in the next 3-7 business days.ā€ I know this sort of thing can happen and others may feel differently, but for me, carelessness around billing is egregious and unacceptable. If you stay here I recommend keeping an eye out for ā€˜accidental’ charges. Overall the stay was an okay experience. I would not stay there again, this hotel is certainly at the more affordable end of the accommodation spectrum in Charleston and you get what you pay for. There are much better options up the road at a slightly higher price point. If you just want a more affordable place to sleep and can get passed a musty smelling room this place would suit you. I'd imagine the billing issue I ran into...

DON’T STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!!!!!!! My husband and I were supposed to arrive at the hotel on Thursday for parent’s weekend at The Citadel .. but since there happened to be a HURRICANE we couldn’t make it until Friday. I called and asked if we could get a refund for Thursday and right away it was NO. Apparently we booked a non changeable non refundable room since there was literally nothing left in the area for that weekend. We obviously didn’t know there would be a natural disaster. The person I spoke with was apparently a bonvoy member instead of a hotel member .. even though I called the hotel number. She said we couldn’t get a refund for one night but she would put in a request for us considering the circumstances. I received an email from someone at the hotel telling us no refund and they had us down for Friday instead. Fast forward .. we go to check in. The patronizing person who checked us in left the front desk for like 20 mins like she was talking to her manager in the back room about buying a car. She finally comes back and says they gave our room away because we were NO SHOWS the night before. Keep in mind I called. Already long story short, instead of her manager coming out and showing her face, front desk lady kept going back and forth. Fast forward again, they all of a sudden had our room for us. Whatever .. blah blah blah .. here’s your keys, thank you very much. We get up to our room, it’s a NASTY, DIRTY, HANDICAPPED ROOM. Mind you, when we booked our room, we booked a premier king room with a balcony. There was even another person working beside her who said nothing the entire time she was going back and forth. These were the most unprofessional, unhelpful, and cruel people I’ve ever come across at a hotel. Don’t even get me started on check out. Just horrible .. and I’ve been a Marriott/bonvoy member for a long time. After I talk with bonvoy, they will be ashamed they’ve affiliated with the limited hotel and invited them to join a company with such a positive reputation with higher end...

I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. So many people to shout out...let's start with Sheldon & Caitlin who worked with me to plan my corporate meeting for 34 people. They were both so patient and so kind. Sheldon answered every one of my many questions and Caitlin was such a huge help with the food & beverage and event coordination. I had several boxes delivered ahead of time and Sheldon happily held them for me (and even took one heavy box to a restaurant for me). As for the event itself, thank you Ben! Mr. Ben is a gem. This man is such an asset to The Limited Hotel (and the Marriott Corporation). If you need to coordinate an event at this hotel, I would have no hesitation saying YES, do it!.

Now for my hotel experience, thank you Lilla at the front desk. She was the first person I met and she was a doll. So friendly and very helpful. The Hotel itself is very clean. Has a modern vibe. The location is great - just one block from King Street. Everything was walkable and I felt very safe. My room was so clean and the bed was very comfortable. I had to work from my room for an entire day and the chair and desk-setup was perfect. Plenty of charging ports in the room/nightstand as well (something I'm usually super critical about). And finally the AC/heat...another thing I am super picky about but not here - it was great, not too loud, and easy to control. So many hotels could learn a lot from The Limited.

I would happily recommend this hotel. Whether I had to be there for an event, work, or just for fun, I would definitely stay...
