I had dinner at Bobby’s Burgers in Southpark to check out the hype. I decided to try Bobby’s because one of my friends recommended it. It is located across from the mall and there is a parking deck so it’s convenient to grab a bite here.
The entrance is on the side of the building facing the street. You enter the restaurant through the patio with the blue umbrellas. There are several tables outside so you can bring your pets and enjoy the food outdoors. The restaurant is well lit and clean. There are booths and table inside. The decor is simplistic decorated in blue and off white. They played classic American hits although the music was a little loud for conversation. They serve breakfast, lunch/dinner, and offer a variety of fried sides and milkshakes.
Burgers: We both ordered the BBQ Smokehouse burger with the sauce on the side. It was well seasoned and fit the bun perfectly. I had a generous amount of bacon and a large crunchy onion ring. The sauce has a slight kick, but is well balanced with the sweet bbq base. My only complaint is the onion ring kept pulling out the coating. Onion straws would make a more complete bite.
Fries: The fries were too salty! Next time, I will order mine salt free. The cheese sauce was good, but added to the already salty fries. They were crispy and hot.
Milkshake: The last time my friend visited the restaurant there was no ice cream so he was excited to try one today. They have a variety of flavors including the pistachio which we tried. It was thick and creamy. However, the pistachio flavor was very subtle. I’m sure it was natural since it was the bright green you normally see with pistachio flavored foods. But he did not like it due to the mild flavor and will try another flavor next time.
Cost: It is expensive. We spent almost $50 with two burgers, 1 milkshake, a small drink, one order of cheese fries and a regular fry. Every thing is a la carte. There are several other local restaurants with similar menus that are more affordable.
Overall, my meal was tasty. However, there are limited healthy options beside the veggie burger. I didn’t see any salads or alternatives sides to the fries and onion rings. I may try Bobby’s Burgers again, but I’d likely go to one of the local joints with a larger menu, alcoholic beverages, and a better variety of...
Read more"Pretty packaging can cover a poor product." That quote describes my table's experience Bobby's Burgers CLT. I went 7.26.24 to the Charlotte, NC location @ 5pm EST. RATING: -1/10. According to TripAdvisor, there are at least 218 places in Charlotte listed under restaurants and eateries serving burgers. I rather pay $10 bucks and get Angus burgers at Costco or pay $5 for a burger combo at Cookout than come back. If I want a quality burger, there are AMAZING burger places like Ace Number 3 & Five Guys that will give you really good burgers!
Heres a break down summary of my experience: ▪︎ ENTRANCE EXPERIENCE: I guess the indicator that this was going to be a HUGE disappointment was that there was NO traditional "burgers being cooked" smell walking in. That should've been a red flag but my friend & I had been waiting all week, excited to try these burgers (based on Google review photos). Visually, the food & milkshake pictures looked good & normal size. I think the entrance looks nice with the navy blue & white colors, and pretty font. The employees have a pleasant attitude and were eager to take our order. ▪︎ ORDER EXPERIENCE: It took an unusually long time to order 2 burgers, 1 fries, 1 shake, 1 fountain drink = ~$50. It took less than 7 minutes for the burgers and drinks to arrive to our table. We reminded the gentleman that walked around checking on guests that the fries were missing. ▪︎ THE FOOD: Don't believe the hype! The patty and fries are frozen. The burgers are clearly frozen and not hand-pattied/seasoned. One of our burgers had bacon and it was cold and rubbery despite it looking crispy. The fries I get from Aldi and Walmart taste better. The fries tasted like they were microwaved. When I say cold, I mean it touched my lips and it was colder than my strawberry shake. Ay...the shake.. it tasted like strawberry Nesquik milk with whipped cream and frozen strawberry chunks.
SUMMARY With the expensive prices and in this economy, we expect top quality but we didn’t even get standars. No Bobby....No.... People are using their hard-earned money to have a nice outing experience and to experience this, Che! Do...
Read moreOkay #bobbyflay I’m a tough judge when it comes to burgers and there is a lot of tough competition in Charlotte for burgers including ACE, Bad Daddy’s, Smashburger and so on. I was skeptical as I have tried restaurants from Giada, Ramsey and Guy and some of the food was great and other stuff was a miss, but Bobby knocked it out of the park. I’m curious why he serves Coke at his restaurant but advertising for Pepsi.
Now to the food. I ordered the Chicken Sandwich, Nacho Burger, Crunch Burger, Cheese Fries, Sweet Potato Fries and a Coke. The chicken sandwich was actually the best chicken sandwich I have had with the correct spiciness and sweet and sourness with the coleslaw. The Crunch Burger was a whole new level with the crunch of the chips and the smokiness of the Bobby Sauce. The Nacho Burger was a nice touch of crunch with a little kick and full flavor. The cheese fries on the other hand, I will order next time on the side as I was wishing it to be like Portillo’s but translated to be more like In and Out cheese fries and very heavy. The Sweet Potato fries were one of the best sweet potato fries I have had but if it were served with a sweet sauce like maybe a cinnamon brown sugar mayo it would be best (I know some may think that is weird but trust me that cooking as I do, the combo would work with these fries).
The only miss for Bobby is the Coke and that still puzzles me.
Service…..Mike was great as were the rest of the staff. The place was clean as well.
Prepare to spend about $20 per meal here (which is slightly more than the fast food chains, but ten times better with value and flavor). Keep in mind this is another mid range burger joint which everyone having their slightly different unique menu items. Unlike most, with the exception of Shake Shack, it is one of the few to serve custard based milkshakes, which can plan an advantage if that is what you are looking for when...
