I learned of this bakery from a niece who brought home a loaf of the sweet cream bread. It was rare that I was in Charlotte, but I knew I had to check it out for myself. I was lucky that they had one loaf left. It was about 3:00 pm. They only make a certain amount everyday. I also purchased a few other treatsā¦a blueberry filled breakfast pasty and a variety of macaroons. The bakery is small AMD very minimalist. Half of it does provide a limited seating area. Which was full. It appears that they also offer specialty teas and coffees but I did not try those. The staff were engaged in their own conversation and werenāt overly friendly while serving me. I inquired about addition loaves of the sweet cream bread, as I would have purchased every one they had to bring home to family members. Thatās when I was told about the amount they make every day. Well, the bread did not disappoint! Itās almost on the lines of tasting like a light fluffy cream donut. The blueberry pastry had a faint blueberry flavor, not overwhelming. My husband was not a fan of the macaroons but I loved the birthday cake ones. Everything was moist and tasted fresh. Even though everything was displayed out in the open. I believe I spent around $40-50. I would definitely recommend going there. Make sure you go early enough to have plenty of choices and the bread is not to be missed! I just learned that this bakery is a chain and theyāre in the Philadelphia area as well. My nephew and his gf love France and French goid. I told them they need to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGreat atmosphere! I loved the look and feel of the place. They have a cute space for people to gather and a place to sit on wooden "stairs" with floor pillows. Very authentic and cozy. I would say they still could have a few additions to the upstairs seating as the plastic chairs are not very comfy. It is nice that they have a larger table on the 2nd floor though. They still have painters tape on some places but they are handling the opening really well!
Food was delicious and I'm looking forward to trying more from here, especially the milk bread! The Cranberry pastry was my favorite. The Hazelnut brittle macaron was very delicious as well. The "Pretzel" like pastry was warm and apple infused. It was DELICIOUS! I think they incorporated the apples very elegantly into the twist of the dough. It made every bite the perfect bite.
I think the strawberry desserts were lacking for me. The strawberry in a coussiant was advertised as cream and I was expecting more than just 'whipped' cream. The texture of the whipped cream also left a film inside my mouth which wasn't very pleasant.
The strawberry spoon (cake?) was soggy which I was not expecting and personally was not a fan. It reminded me of a Tres Leche cake.
Sweetness was perfect overall of the desserts I had.
I am not a coffee drinker and wished there was a little bit more that I could have from their drink selection. They do have smoothies though but something lighter would be nice with all the pastries.
Enjoyed my visit very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe place is pretty, so are the pastries- (thatās just about all some of them have (looks)), but there are like four good items. The service took a little while but patience is the greatest of all virtues, I guess. I know the workers were trying their best but they 1) seemed uninterested, 2) the coffee tasted like tea- steamed pretty lazily. I NEVER leave reviews, but this was straight up bad and sad. I was so excited to try Tous Les Jours.
The cloud cakes have nothing cloudy about them. Theyre also too expensive for what they are! Theyāre tough and the flavors a feel nonexistent. They taste like vanilla cakes with food coloring. The icing felt old, it was super greasy. As if the icing had begun to separate between the sugar and butter- or worse; it wasnāt mixed well. $7 for that. The macarons also had little to no flavor apart from sugar. They tasted like fridge. I was a little sad to taste everything, knowing the packaging says āfreshly baked everydayā. Nothing about it tasted freshly baked. The mocha just tasted like packaged hot chocolate mix. No strong hints of anything else (coffee). Made my tummy hurt. I donāt mean to sound entitled but I led a bakery program last summer for kids and I can tell you, I know when cakes are old. Everything was sort of tough. The chocolate on stuff also felt very pasty and chalky. The chocolate was waxy, and seemed low quality. Some stuff is good but please donāt try this with high expectations. Not worth a visit...
