This was our party’s first dining experience at Del Frisco’s. We even cancelled a dinner reservation that we had with another 5 star fine dining restaurant that we ALWAYS go to for special occasions just to try something different. With Del Frisco’s 5 star rating, we had high expectations - especially for a birthday dinner- and we were EXTREMELY disappointed. Pros: Ambiance is amazing. This truly is a beautiful restaurant. Hostess was amazing. Manager was amazing and the only reason I would ever consider going back maybe with my husband. He was very apologetic and although he didn’t have to and we didn’t ask, he told us he would take care of us. Cons: Service. Our waitress was also a bartender, and we felt every bit of that. We didn’t receive the most attentive service… as I would think that the bar is a bartender’s priority (?) Also at fine dining establishments, I’m used to being asked “is this your first time?”, and if so the server takes the time to educate about the menu, talk about how certain dishes are prepared, talk about the steaks…etc. (we all know). There was none of that. My sister’s empty salad plate sat on the table until SHE asked the server to take it right before we left. I had to call her over to take our order because she took too long to check back. We had to ask “do we have bread coming?” But the icing is as follows… Our reservation for 3 was for 6pm. After a short wait, we were sat at 615. We had a show uptown at 8pm, so we knew there was a possibility that we might not be able to FINISH our meal, but we expected that our food would at least make it to the table and we would be able to eat SOMETHING before the 2 hour show. Especially because no one ordered steaks… just appetizers as entrees (quick), sides, and sea bass. By 720p, still no entrees... only thing we had eaten was bread (which was delicious) and a caesar salad. We told our waitress and the manager that by this time, it ALL needed to be packed up and taken to go. When another gentleman brought the food to the table and proceeded to show us our packed up food items, we asked him “where are the meatballs?” His response was, “I was not told anything about meatballs”. It is worth noting that a gentleman came to our table previously asking if we had ordered meatballs as an appetizer, and I told him my meatballs were supposed to be an entree and I had ordered sides with it. He left and we never heard anything else about it. The gentleman did say that because the meatballs are pre-made, they wouldn’t take long at all and they would come out with the sea bass. Which they did. This was a VERY disappointing experience, and the more frustrating part is we cancelled a sure-to-be-amazing experience with a restaurant that has never failed to disappoint, to take a chance on a restaurant that had the potential and reputation to be great but failed miserably on a first impression on a...
Read moreIve come to the conclusion that this place just simply hired waiters & waitresses without a standard or training; the variation & range in service here is insane. This was my 6th time visiting (and last) and the service just gotten worse with each visit. I’m assuming short term memory concerns may have been a factor with a waiter tonight. After moving from our initial seat while having a waiter from the bar that obviously prioritized the bar, we were in high hopes that our 2nd waitress would be much better. She took at least 10-15 mins to finally get to the table & at initial intro, she promised to review the menu with my sister that had never been there; complete fail. She never did such and came back much later. This was a repeated issue because we had to constantly remind her about refills, bread do go, and our check. I asked that my salad to come out with my entree & she just totally disregarded that & brung out a salad draining in dressing (asked for dressing to be on the side) and stale/soggy croutons. My Oscar style ribeye (not a ribeye served) was ruined because I’m unsure who told her I wanted my béarnaise sauce on the side? She didn’t offer to fix or redo; it was truly an oh well moment/that’s just how it comes. For the wait, the food wasn’t even piping hot. Now to the steak, I know my steaks. I ordered a prime ribeye & got a dry chuck eye instead. I didn’t have not one filet, tail, or cap on my “ribeye”. My steak was cooked well instead of medium. The waiter never came back to check on that after I pointed out the sauce; forgot to mention I had to ask for the sauce. I truly believe they were just going to give me the steak without the sauce then charge for it. The waitress never once told us they charged for refills or the bread to go. Also I had to remind her of the birthday cake that she originally mentioned. Finally, half of the food I had left (especially my sides) were not packed; I figured this would happened once she took it in the back to pack instead of in front of us. Unfortunately, the service here weighs tremendously on the experience & this just was not it. It’s honestly like a surprise bag when it comes to the quality of service you’ll get here; I’m in awe the inconsistency and the variation of service standards at each visit (especially when you can look over at 2 tables down & someone is having an amazing experience per their waiter. It’s obvious it’s no service training here; i believe they just hire & say “give it your decent shot”. How could I forget the soggy Calimari? The breading was falling off each one without a crunch. 6th...
Read moreWe went to Del Frisco last night for a birthday celebration. This was the 2nd time going for a birthday celebration. The first time we went everything was perfect however, we were very disappointed with last night's service. The atmosphere was good and the food was decent except for the lobster mac and cheese which lacked flavor. The first issue we had was with the bread. The first serving of bread we received was delicious and moist, however when they brought us some more for the table. It was burnt and very dry. The 2nd batch tasted nothing like the first batch and did not have melted butter on top. The second issue we had was that when the waitress came to box up our food, she attempted to carry all three plates at once, the issue with this is that she had long blonde hair which was not secured in a bun nor pulled back away from her face. Instead her waist length hair was down and laying on her chest. As such, when she attempted to take our leftovers, her hair was practically touching our food since she had the plates pulled close to her in order to carry them all to the kitchen. This is very unsanitary as hair should be pulled back and not hanging down when serving food. This is a health code violation. The third issue for me is that, when she brought us our food after boxing them up, she placed the bag with the food on the floor. How disgusting?! At that point our table was cleared so she should have either given me the bag or placed it on the table. What would make her think it's ok to put someone's food on the floor?! I was totally appalled and have never experienced nor seen anything like this before in any restaurant...even McDonald's, Burger King and similar restaurants don't hand you your food by putting it on the floor. This is a very big health violation! What would possess you to place someone's food on the floor? Whether or not it's in a bag, its very disrespectful and disgusting. How do you place someone's food on a dirty floor with lots of foot traffic? What if we wanted to put the bag with the food in our refrigerator?
The final issue is that when I attempted to take the food out the bag, it looked dirty inside and had what looked like hair in the bottom of the bag.
I was totally disappointed with the service and ended up throwing away my leftovers. So, we practically wasted our money.
This was very poor service from a very expensive restaurant and my birthday celebration was ruined. As such we will not be going back to Del Frisco's Southpark nor will we recommend this restaurant any of...
