El Rincon Catracho Restaurant — Restaurant in Charlotte

Food was a 10/10. In restaurant Service was lacking a bit due to online ordering pickups. It was seriously non stop. Telling regarding how good the food was last night. We had Chicharones, Pollo con Tajada (could be misspelled) and a steak quesadilla. Steak was so tender. Next time we will ask for grilled onions inside. The Pollo Con Tajades, was the best me and my boyfriend ever had! The chips were super good. The table salsa was lacking (watered down, not clinging to the chip, but flavorful), but maybe it's not the traditional salsa we are used to at Mexican restaurants.

Please hire a proper plumber if you haven't because the bathroom smells horrible. I gagged when exiting the restaurant as the door swung open.

I was a bit skeptical of other reviewers' concerns about the area being a bit sketchy. Plus I was doing an early dinner, around 4:30, so figured that would help. In the end, I never felt threatened or unsafe. It was a bit unnerving, however, to watch a drug deal go down in broad daylight just outside the (deeply tinted) window while waiting for my dinner.

The payoff was worth it though. My carne asada - a Honduran steak on green bananas - was excellent. Prices are reasonable. Service is friendly. There were several families having dinner there, which - as a previous reviewer noted - it generally a good sign. I'd definitely recommend a visit for a break from the typical generic tex-mex.
