Keep in mind we spent $39.00. My fiancé and I are on a cross-country road trip to home after the holidays. With pep in our step and hearts three sizes bigger than the grinch, we segued through the Bowl on a friend’s glowing recommendation for “FlykidFly.”Mind you, his recommendation falls short of only Emeral Lagase in our minds.
Sunday proved to be busy, as in standing room only. No problem right? We’re in the south and friendliness is thicker than grits or your grandmas accent. However, as my fiancé was looking over the menu/flyer someone took it from her. I would’ve slapped him, but I hadn’t left my manners in the car and I’m still recovering from a fractured spine.
We would’ve liked to have more latte options than the two presidential candidates we all voted on, but mocha and vanilla were enough I guess so we got the vanilla lattes along with two “Brekky burritos” (bacon and Barbacoa).
We found a spot to squeeze into (sort of), and when my name was called I politely worked my way to get it. The menu thief decided to stand right there so I kindly asked him to let me through to grab the food. As I grabbed the coffee, I noticed it was an inch from the top on my latte, but I was already annoyed so I ignored it. As I tried to exit around our esteemed menu connoisseur and his two lady friends, he decided to ignore my presence and bump the coffee which almost went everywhere, but we managed a light spill instead.
At this point I was ready to leave, but praise be to baby Jesus we had smashing window seats- who could imagine leaving? Well, the “brekky” (read like a valley girl), tortillas had soggy-spot syndrome along with crispy-dog-bone sections and eggs as bland as a preacher’s sermon on Monday, with so little meat that the leftovers from Jesus feeding the 5,000 would’ve been better.
To summarize, the coffee was excellent, but the experience and food made it...
Read moreWe were spending the morning hours walking around the Bowl and taking the kids to the near by playground, so seeing that a new coffee shop opened up I was happy to try it out! Upon walking in, I noticed the giant menu on the back wall which I did not care for. It is difficult to read with all the letters jumbled together and the environment just seemed really plain to me. I do not drink coffee, but I love Chai tea lattes which is what I ordered. Immediately, after being handed my drink I take my first sip and was thrown back at 2 things: the temperature and the flavor. I ordered a hot chai which is always steamed, but this was luke-warm at best. The chai flavor was extremely strong and tasted very watered down like it was made with water too and not just milk. I am really not one to complain so we walked out and I tried enjoying it as much as possible, but the thought of spending the money on something and I could not even enjoy it, I felt like I had to say something. I went back inside to let them know and she was happy to remake it for me. Since it tasted water down, I asked if they use water or milk and she said they put almond milk in it! Again, I was taken back because I never even requested almond milk and thankfully I do not have a nut allergy! (There is no description on the menu so just beware!) As far as I know, a chai latte is made with whole milk which is what I was expecting and almond milk is usually only used upon request and is an upcharge. After she remade it, it was hotter, but still wasn't very good and I wasn't going to make an issue of it again so I let it be. It is so unfortunate because I love the idea of having a coffee shop in the bowl, I'm just not pleased with the experience I had and don't have a...
Read moreI can’t explain it but the vibes are just always off here. It feels so sterile which I get it’s the look they are going for but it just doesn’t feel welcoming. Definitely more of an upscale coffee place. Which I typically can appreciate but this just feels… intense. The space itself is very small and when you walk in the counter is right there so two people on line at the same time can barely fit. Make sure you know what you want because from my experiences this isn’t the type of place that they will make small talk or give recommendations or welcome engagement. I’ve tried both the coffee options and the tea options. Decent coffee and I like the matcha but I always feel like both are watered down if I get iced. The breakfast burrito is decent but VERY greasy and heavy. Both times I’ve had it I feel like it is filled with more potatoes than eggs. The pastries are ok but nothing I would go out of my way for. I will say this is not a place to go with more than 2 people. While the outside can accommodate, the inside absolutely cannot. During the week most tables and filled with people working and it’s not always easy to...
