Legion Brewing (LB) uses the tagline 'Friends & Beers' and I can't agree with it more. This Legion Brewing location in Plaza Midwood is the 'OG' location on Commonwealth avenue across the street from the 'legendary' Diamond Restaurant and one of my favorite neighborhood spots, Common Market. Legion Brewing has been a staple in the Charlotte Brewery communication since the erection of breweries in CLT and has not disappointed yet (me of course).
Legion Brewing has plenty of seating both insides and outside for the SOLO DOLO bar adventurers or for small to large groups, Legion can definitely accommodate. The outside seating consists of benches, built in concrete slabs which are accompanied by a wood-burning fire pit. Inside they have a u-shaped bar, high-top tables, in-wall benches, and stand alone tables. The bar is lined up with beer taps of their wonderfully delicious beer.
Legion Brewing does have food but I haven't tried anything. I have heard good things about their menu which ranges from starters (wings, dips, peanuts), flatbreads, sides (brussels, sweet potato fingerlings, side salads), (actual) SALADS, and handhelds (Juicy Jay Bahn Mi, Cheesesteak, chicken sandwich) -- just to name a few -- LB has a lot more on their menu and by me just now looking at it, I definitely will be trying food their next time. I've tried the food at the South Park location and it's delectable, but another review will be coming soon for them.
The beers that I tried while at LB are listed below: Juicy Jay - IPA - American 6.3% ABV - 68 IBU - Legion Brewing Company - Charlotte, NC
Supernova Blueberry Pomegranate - Sour - Fruited Berliner Weisse 5.5% ABV - 13 IBU - Legion Brewing Company - Charlotte, NC Juicy J is my favorite CLT beer PERIODT. The Supernova sour was a perfect balance of fruit, tart, & sour. ABSOLUTELY ENJOYED BOTH OF THEM!
All in all, Legion Brewing is undoubtedly and categorically a must-go when you come to Charlotte. I always recommend LB to my family/friends and now, TO YOU! ;-)

Read moreAfter lunch at Whiskey Warehouse, we popped right across the street at Plaza Midwood to Legion Brewing Charlotte…
Upon entering into Legion Brewing at Plaza Midwood Charlotte, we were attracted to the wooden furniture throughout its premise. The tables, the bar counter top and even the wooden beams at the brewing area – they all point to a homely and friendly atmosphere here. At Legion Brewing, they bring the community together. Whether, you’re dining, chilling or even working, Legion provides a clean positive vibe for everyone to enjoy its premise.
There are some daily specials/program at Legion Brewing. But we couldn’t really make out what does “Vinyl on Tap” meant or whether there was any deals. Hence, we went right ahead for some recommendations instead. This time, they had the following on tap at Legion Brewing Charlotte:
Easy Drinker Penguin Pilsner Lunar Daze House Sparrow Saison
Hop Forward Juicy Jay Mango Juicy Jay Tiny Dancer Hopchiller
Tart & Funky Supernova (Cherry Lemon) Sparkle Party Ikimasui
Gluten Free Hard Seltzer Hard Cider
Dark & Roasted Slainte Quit Your Wine-ing Ghost of Kiev Red Eyes Black Dragon
Wine Stone Bay Archer Roose Diamarine Marc Cellars
As you can see from the selection, Legion Brewing has its grounds covered. If you’re a craft beer lover, you have the pilsners, IPAs and Stouts. There are also seltzers and ciders for those who wants a choice of gluten free. There are also wine and prosecco selections. With the non-alcoholic selection of soft drinks and kombucha, that’s pretty much everyone covered.
We asked for some IPA recommendations and this time, we had a sessions IPA (Tiny Dancer) as well as a juicy mango IPA (Mango Juicy Jay) which came up to a total of $14 (with $2 tips)…

Read moreGreat brewery! I stopped in for lunch and a couple of beers because it looked so inviting from the sidewalk. The beers I got were the Hop Chiller and POG Supernova. Both were delicious. I got the Banh mi for lunch which was also good. The bartender was prompt with my drink order and gave me sufficient time to look over the food menu. I also got a 4 pack of mixed cans to take home.
Without doing any research on them, I would guess the Juicy Jay is their flagship beer. Only because it’s the only one I’ve seen distributed to other areas outside of Charlotte and because they brew a few different styles of it. I haven’t had all the styles but the original is very good.
I also really like that they brew multiple different Berliner Weiss’s since it’s my favorite style of beer these days.
I recommend giving this place a visit at this location. There are a lot of different places you could walk to from here as well. It’s a...
