On 8/29 I had an early job that was placing me on a route that gave me the option to get Breakfast at what used be my favorite sandwich and Bagel shop in Charlotte for the past how ever many years they have been open. So I jumped in my van at 6:30AM and headed to Poppies. I call them up and a very crass young lady named Brittany answered the phone. She informed me that they don't do take out orders over the phone and that I needed to text her the order. I explained to her that I was driving and that I couldn't text and I was in hurry and I really needed the order ready when I arrived. Her response was a very unsencier "Sorry" she couldn't do anything to help. I thought that was pretty lame. So I called my co worker who I was getting breakfast for also and asked him to text it in. So he texted it and let me know the order was a go. I arrive at poppies, there's one other person in the whole place, and I walk up to the register and ask for my order. Same rude young lady that answered the phone is at the register. She looks around and says I don't see your order and tells me she can take it again and it would be ready in 5min. I told her I was very sorry, but I didn't have time to wait and that I was not happy about the way the whole take out order thing was being handled, I asked her name and at that point she just turns away and ignores me. So I had to ask another one of her coworker for her name so I could include her in this review. Thanks for ruining a long relationship and the start of my day Brittany. Read moreI have been coming here for years, and finally had to post a (hopefully) constructive review today. The inefficiencies here are shocking. If someone orders a dozen bagels to go, the person who takes the order should simply turn around, throw the bagels in a bag, and hand it back to the customer so they can be on their merry way. If they also order cream cheese, those should already be pre-scooped for to-go orders so you can just grab it and hand it to the person. There is no reason to have someone who is just getting bagels wait behind 20 sandwich orders. It backs up the line, makes the place way too crowded, and irritates everyone. This should be a very easy fix. Additionally, unless someone specifically asks for their bagels to each be individually sliced and wrapped in parchment paper, that should not be the go to. It takes way more time, and those bagels will get stale faster if they aren't being eaten right away.
Today I ordered two everything bagels to go with 1/2 lb of cream cheese and it took 15 minutes. There was no one behind me in line, so the person taking orders could have thrown my bagels in a bag and gotten me cream cheese within 60 seconds, but was instead just standing there doing nothing for 10 minutes until the next customer came in.

Went to breakfast with friends this morning and had one of the worst customer service experiences that I have ever had in Charlotte. The three of us placed our orders one after the other with no problem. Their food came out of the kitchen in a reasonable amount of time, but my order was delayed. Now you might think, ok it must have been a special order - no it was an egg and cheese bagel, nothing special. I went to the front to ask about the status and got told by a person from the kitchen that they were running behind, but he would not, or could not, tell me anything specific about the status of my order. So I started to ask one of the counter people to simply check if my order had been lost or delayed. (I was not the first person to do this either, I witnessed two other customers ahead of me asking about the same issue.) Well, the kitchen person overheard me asking for an update and got upset and quite aggressive in telling me that it's not their problem and I will just have to wait. He even went so far as to throw a couple insults my way. I did eventually get my order after my friends had finished their meals, unfortunately it was ok at best.
