Protagonist first stole my heart when they opened their first location in NoDA. They have virtuous beer, chaste grounds, and an overall smashing milieu. Since I was so fond of the NoDA location, I just had to try this regenerated (new) and ameliorated (improved) venue located in Lower South End (LOSO). Protagonist LOSO is located on Southside Dr/Yancey Rd across the street from Queen Park Social (to the front), The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery & Biergarten (to the left), Sugar Creek Brewing Company & GoodRoad CiderWorks (to the right), and down the street from Brewers at 4001 Yancey (one of my fav places...review coming soon).
You really can't miss Protagonist LOSA (ProLOSO) because they have huge letters on the top of the building, PROTAGONIST. ProLOSA has a cornucopia of outside seating so when the weather is optimal, you can watch your favorite sporting events in one of their many seating areas. Once you walk inside, you are greeted by the bar, an abundance of seating, an upstairs area, and their food ordering section aka 'kitchen bar/food marshaling' sector. You can either walk up to ordain a beverage or sit at the bar to get the same result. If you want food, I think they just have pizza (I haven't tried any YET), you order from the aforementioned bailiwick.
I forgot the name of the IPAs I requested, but they were quite tasty. The service was on point (it was not that packed) and the conversation(s) I had with the bartender(s) were pleasing and cool. I met another patron sitting next to me that was waiting on his girlfriend and he was personable (I don't know the relevance of saying this, but this is what I remember LOL).
All in all, I will be going back in the measurable future to try out the sustenance and see what that's about. I conclusively recommend any person to go to this locale and check them out for yourself.
Cheers MATE$! ...:::...
Read moreWhile I’d really like to give this place a higher rating, I just don’t feel like it’s deserving of it. I visited the establishment on a Saturday for my son congratulatory work promotion celebration. Being this was my first time going I was sorta of clueless as to how things work. I feel it is highly unsanitary for a food establishment to put open air food on a counter for many people to walk up to it and breathe over your food while looking for their name! Covid and other strands of viruses are still lurking our area tremendously! The lady taking my order gave me sauce instead of wings (which I ordered) and then charge my 20.19 for wings that were clearly priced as 14$. I had an open tab (would not ever do that again) and so I have since seen multiple charges to account that I clearly did not make. The wings my guy got (buffalo) was extremely salty and my salad dressing was extremely vinegary! We were not happy with the food at all but did not complain to management. Just figured it was a lost on our end and we would only go back for the drinks. We decided to leave so that the guy could watch a different football game (Florida State). However, then that evening I noticed all the extra charges on my account for food I did not order because I clearly wasn’t not there anymore! Problem #3! I drove back to the establishment in hopes to rectify the situation without involving the bank. But to my surprise, I check my account again and now they’ve added more charges!! This is absurd and extremely unfair to me when I clearly wasn’t even at the establishment when the charges were made. This is a lesson learned for me and absolutely will not be eating at this place ever again. I tried to do what was right but that didn’t work! Not a satisfied...

(Review criteria based between 1-5 stars⭐)
Family Friendly:⭐⭐⭐⭐ This popular brewery in Southend is a great spot for families looking to fill some hungry tummies! Parking is usually manageable, however, it can get a little tight on the weekends! Our kids love this place, especially eating outside on picnic tables!
Service:⭐⭐⭐ Well, you order food/beer inside and get a number for your table. Service has never been spectacular but everyone is friendly. I was charged for something I didn't order one time which was annoying and getting it taken care of was kind of a pain. However, it was one time, so no hard feelings!
Food:⭐⭐⭐⭐ We come for the massive cheese pizza and when I say massive I'm talking the largest pizzas I've ever seen! They are super tasty and great for feeding large families! 🍻 You can never go wrong with their beer either. I'd say it's probably the best in the area and that's saying alot seeing as @oldmeck, @4001, and @sugarcreek are all within walking distance!
Dog Friendly:⭐⭐⭐ Huge outdoor seating area for dogs. Although you can only order inside, so be sure to have a friend or family member to hold your pup while you order.
Summary:⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is definitely one of our go to pizza spots in Charlotte! Can never go wrong with the chill atmosphere, great beer, and massive pizzas!
