We were in town to go to the NASCAR Hall of Fame and decided on Mexican for dinner. Every review I read for this restaurant was good, so we went. Well, it did not disappoint! Everything we had was amazing and delicious. We had chicken empamadas that were so fresh, that they could be cut with a fork and they were big and stuffed with filling. My husband had steak with authentic sides that he said was phenomenal. We tried the pupusas, cheese and beans and cheese which were very big and fantastic. I had the sopa de mariscos (seafood soup) and it was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten! I got the small, and for $13, it was big, loaded with seafood as well as yucca, carrots, plantains. It had large mussels, shrimp, crab, fish, & octopus. The waitress told me that it is the Honduran version of the soup with coconut broth. It also came with rice and what I believe are homemade tortillas. The restaurant was full of locals and the majority were of Latin descent, so I knew immediately that the food was going to be amazing. The waitresses were extremely sweet, helpful, and attentive. If we are ever in Charlotte again, we will be going back, especially because I want that seafood soup again. The portions are huge, the food is wonderful, and the prices are good. They even have a pickup drive up window for...
Read moreThis new Honduran restaurant took over the previous Wendy's location off of South Tryon road. They did a pretty good job upfitting both the exterior and interior. The inside is a bit dark and homey feeling and has its own bar with seating. I'd recommend eating in over ordering out. There is a good sized parking lot that usually always has spaces available. I've included some photos of the menu since it's hard to find any online because they are so new. They're in the process of editing their website for online ordering and table reservations.
I placed a take out order for ceviche mixto and a maracuya juice. The total was roughly $33 with the ceviche being $26. Quite expensive for the portion provided but understandable in the current economic climate. The flavors were quite vibrant and enjoyable. Slightly sour, spicy, with fresh seafood. The ratio of shrimp to octopus to fish was more heavy on the shrimp and octopus side. And the octopus was slightly overcooked. It came with three fresh fried corn tortillas that were very delicious and blew the store bought versions out of the water.
I'll be back to enjoy the more affordable options. I'm sure the flavors will...
Read moreReviewer is a foodie and was impressed by the flavors and dishes at this restaurant. Started with a spicy mango margarita. Well balanced, good ratio of spicy rim to margarita, and came with three maraschino cherries which is a plus. I must get pupusas anytime they are on a menu so I did and they were hot, fresh, and full of filling. I did not like the pickled cabbage slaw but the regular cabbage slaw was good, make sure to eat each bite with slaw and red sauce. We got the aguachiles verdes and the pineapple dish filled with mixed seafood. Very bold, good flavors. The seafood was perfectly cooked and tender. I will have to go back because the menu had multiple things I want to try. A variety of intriguing dishes. Good prices and portion sizes. I was satisfied and impressed. I went on a Saturday in summer at 7pm and only thing is the restaurant was not slammed or very busy, but the wait staff was a bit slow. Still, they were not rude or anything in that regard. I will be going back and am looking forward to trying some of the other...
