Sometimes our meals on the road really suck. Not often, but this was one of those times. I hope someone who owns this Cook Out franchise shows these pictures to the person who made our meal that night. March 13 just after 9 PM, 4374 S Tryon St, Charlotte, NC 28217
If it wasn't so late and we weren't driving on to Columbia, we would've turned around and asked for a refund.
We ordered our meals as trays and were startled to see that we got two regular size and two tiny onion rings as a side. But our order gets much worse after that.
Our other sides were a corndog each and the "bacon wrap." One corn dog was burnt and cracked. I noticed we did not receive any napkins or any condiments. I walked a great distance back from our car parked near the entrance to the walk up window. We didn't pull back around because by now, each of the order lanes were now 5 to 6 cars deep and it wasn't easy for us to drive closer. When we arrived there was only one car in each lane. Trying to get someone's attention, I had plenty of time to look at the conditions of the service area. The floor had been freshly mopped and there were literally puddles of water that the team were walking around in. I finally asked one of the team members for napkins, ketchup, and mustard. She obviously hadn't been there long because she did not know where to find mustard, and seemed unwilling to ask anyone for help. She instead offered me honey mustard for a corndog. Some people may like that, but not me.
The "bacon wrap" thing is terrible. And half of the ingredients were missing. It is supposed to be three strips of "fresh cooked" bacon, with cheese, lettuce, and ranch dressing. Do you see lettuce? Is that tiny orange speck at the bottom of the photo the proper portion of the cheese? Never order this atrocity unless you plan to take the bacon out of the ranch soup tortilla and put it on a burger. That's what I did.
If you ordered a "Cheddar Style" burger, you would expect to be served a burger that matched the description, cheddar cheese, bacon, grilled onions and mayo. And I asked for them to add jalapeños.
Instead, they serve me a pile of sloppy goo. There was no bacon at all. The cheese was "American cheese" which is not actually cheese. The FDA classifies it as a "pasteurized process cheese food" because of all the artificial stuff that's in it. And who thinks green bell pepper is the same as jalapeño? There was nothing on their menu that that I saw which included bell peppers. So they must have ordered the wrong thing and decided to just substitute it for jalapeños, or they really don't know the difference between those two peppers. Regardless, that was a really poor decision.
This burger was inedible as served. The meat itself was more of a meatball than a patty. I scraped off 3/4 of the unnecessary onions and all of the bell pepper I could pick out. I took the bacon from the soup tortilla wrap and added it to the burger which made it almost edible. That's why I ordered it with bacon which was not included as served. After a few bites (because I was starving after four hours on a plane), I threw it away to save myself from its sloppiness.
I do not know who was working in the kitchen, but they do not understand what ingredients are supposed to go with the items they are serving, even the "regular" burger, ordered "Steak Style." It is supposed to include A1 sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. They didn't give her mayo and there was less than 1/4 teaspoon of A1 sauce. And look at that punky little piece of lettuce, because that is all of the lettuce that she received on this burger. And the indentations on the buns are just bizarre. The amount of onions on the burger is probably appropriate, maybe a little light.
The only items that were served properly were our drinks, one corn dog and the hushpuppies.
I'm sure the "Cook Out" would not have as many locations as they have if all of their locations operated this poorly. So my comments are not about the brand it was about this location, the preparation and the team...
Read moreNever going to this cookout or any other cookout again. I pulled in the second line at about 8:30 tonight, 10/17. I was met with about a ten minute wait time or longer as I watched at the very least 8 cars in the first line run through with efficiency. Once I got to the second window after contemplating driving off, I got the complete wrong order. The drinks were correct so I assumed it was correct. It was completely incorrect. I tried to ask for sauce and quickly got the door shut on my face. I went back AFTER i got home and realized. Once I went back I assumed going to the walk up window would be faster but I was wrong. After waiting about ten minutes I let a young girl know I was just here and got the two trays that were wrong. She calls a manager over and he comes over and says he will handle it. A couple minutes later now someone comes and hands us the correct order while asking for the incorrect one back. I asked if we could keep it and she said no, why would I let you do that? I told her because you guys were wrong, made me wait for in total at least 30 minutes, made me drive back for the correct food, and still wait in the cold for it?? It was your fault. I asked if she was going to throw the food away and said yes, but you can't have it. I said it was your mistake, we should be able to have a couple of fries to make up for it. While I was waiting on my food, I watched a young guy throw a shake to someone else working. Not hand THROW. Just know your shakes have probably touched the ground;) I also watched the woman who messed up irritatingly ask her coworkers "oh, they came back?" Yes I did! It was $17 and took an hour out of my night for two trays. No apology no nothing, just the food i should have gotten an hour ago. Extremely extremely rude staff except for the...
Read moreIf I could give my experience here a negative start, I would.I went to this location on 10/23/21, it was only 4 cars in front of me. It took an hour to get through the line and it might have been longer but one of the customers from another car got out and went up to the window to complain about the wait time I understand that it was short staffed. Once I finally got to the speaker, I understood what the problem was. The cashier was rude and said"wait" and I did just that. I ordered 4 hotdogs, 2 with cheese but she rushed me away so fast that she didn't hear what I ordered. I repeated myself and she said I got it, pull up. I got to the window and she opened it up and reached the food, not speaking or anything. I paid and checked my order and it was wrong. She slammed the door and walked away. I honked the horn to get her attention and she looked at me and walked away again, I then knocked on the window to get her attention and she ignored me. I knocked again and she screamed I hear you but did not come over to see what was needed after sitting in line an hour. A gentleman came to the window and I told him what was wrong. He then got me some cheese, I asked him her name to make a complaint about her being rude and disrespectful. He said her name was Kayla but I am not sure if that is correct. I have not had such a terrible experience and to get burnt hotdogs that were soggy. Worst experience at this cookout, that I...
