I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Wine shop in RiverGate, and I must say, it was an excellent experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a friendly hello from the staff. The ambience of the place was inviting, with a cozy and elegant décor that made me feel right at home. One of the first things that caught my attention was the impressive selection of wines, both domestic and international. The shop had an extensive collection of wines, with something to suit every taste and preference. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful, providing recommendations and guiding me to the perfect bottle that suited my palate. While the wine selection was impressive, the food was equally delightful. The menu had a great selection of dishes, ranging from appetizers to entrees, all created with love. I tried the charcuterie board, which was a beautiful selection of meats, cheeses, and fruits that paired perfectly with my wine. The flavors were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. The staff at the Wine shop were exceptional, providing excellent service throughout my visit. They were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure that I had a wonderful experience. They were always willing to answer my questions, provide recommendations, and make sure that I was comfortable. Their attention to detail and commitment to customer service was truly commendable. Paige in particular was a fantastic person and very knowledgeable about the wines in the shop. Nikki our server, another fantastic personality, walked us through the menu and answered every single question. She highlighted the cases that recommended and set our expectations immediately what are professional!!!! Overall, I had an excellent experience at the Wine shop in RiverGate. The food, ambience, and staff were absolutely excellent and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great selection of wines, delicious food, and exceptional service.

I love this place. Entrees (with daily specials) small plates, cheese plates, bread and olive plates, daily quiches and tacos. What's not to love!? I've been here quite a few times but I'm honestly stuck on the same things every time ceacuse they're so good. I love the quiches because I always get a different one every time I come. The truffle fries are honestly some of the best I've ever had. You have to try them when you come. Even their "regular" fries are delicious. Their regular fries are served with most of their sandwiches as well as their moules and frites (mussels and fries) which comes with 3 different sauces). My other staples are the crabcakes and Caesar salad...yep the Caesar salad. I ALWAYS get a Caesar salad every time I come even if it's just a half order. Why you say? They are one of the few places in Charlotte that serves a Caesar salad the way it should be served which is with anchovies. If like me you love anchovies on your Caesar you'll love theirs because they're some of the freshest I've had and they'll even give you extra if you request it. Their wines are always great as well. They are a wine bar after all. Though I like wine I'm more of a beer drinker so my wife usually picks the wine and since she's a sweet wine drinker we always end up with a desert wine. Their Moscato Di'Asti and their sweet red Dorfelder are great choices. Their selection of craft beer is nothing to scoff at either. Inclusive of oferything I listed above, I love coming here because the ambiance, the view and the fact that I can enjoy a great cigar on the patio along with my drink and meal or enjoy live music I'd I decide to sit inside. They also has a cozy upstairs are that is nice and tucked away from everyone else. All in all a great vibe and a great pace that I love to frequent.

Went to the Wine Shop for a quick lunch! Sat outside and got chilly quick so we decided to eat inside. We got a glass of wine and a beer The wine was great and beer was cold. I Ordered the hamburger with BBQ on it and slaw. Side salad. Also ordered Fried Goat cheese and apple salad. The burger was one of the best hamburger I have ever had. It had a pulled pork on it with a mustard bbq sauce and Cole slaw and was a great surprise. Total will get it again when I go back next time!! She loved her salad cleaned her plate witch is rare for us. I cleaned my plate there was nothing left. They have a cigar section so stop by and get one! When you Go take all your friends and family. Wine Shop is the place to go for dinner, lunch, or just a glass of great wine. Also is a great gift for the holidays or birthday gifts! They have a great section to wrap it up how ever you need! When you Go Tell the Brian Sent ya!! The Review Guru!

Very rude, dismissive, and very apparent negligent service. On yesterday I ate there for lunch and ordered a salmon ceaser salad. Let me first start by saying that the hostess are very kind and sweet, however management and the server that my friend and I had was extremely piss poor. I have NEVER had such terrible service like I had on yesterday. While eating my salad about 3/4 through I noticed that the middle of the salmon was still a little raw. Some people may like there seafood cooked a little medium well, however I don’t. I raised concern to the server when my friend and I finished eating our meals because you sure couldn’t do it while you were eating because she came to our table 2 times and that was it. She never came back over after that second time to check and see how our food was. I was I a rush to get back to work and needed to leave, however I stayed so that I could let management know that I was dissatisfied with my salmon. It took me to ask another server/bartender about my bill. I was dismissively told I had to pay the bill and then the manager could come over and talk to me since she was in a meeting that they couldn’t disturb her of even if its a dissatisfied customer raising a concern about halfway cooked salmon. She was extremely defensive as if I was going to walk out and not pay. I had to run the manager down after her meeting was over because clearly she was not interested in resolving the matter. When I approached her letting her know about my salad her response was “ well I looked at the salad and saw that you ate most of it” now if you knew about my concern and you took the time to look at it and continued to be “fake” busy at the desk in the front why wouldn’t you come over and see what the issue is instead of trying to avoid it and pretend you are so busy helping everyone in the restaurant. Customer complaints should be number 1. It should be a managers duty to handle them to the utmost professional manner, but instead she tried to dismiss the situation by stating I ate most of it. I was on my lunch and pressed for time and clearly the server and the manager did not care at all initially about satisfying a disgruntled customer. She finally did apologize which was not sincere at all and took half off my bill. That was my first and my absolute last time stepping foot into that establishment. They were very rude, very dismissive, seemed to want to only cater to there race and yes I’m pulling the race card because at the time of service my girlfriend and I were the only black people in the restaurant at the time. My friend sat at the table for at least 10 minutes before they even came to pick up the check for payment. They don’t have to worry about me or anyone I know stepping foot in there at all. I will never go back because of the way I...

The Wine Shop was built in RiverGate a few years after my husband and I purchased our house in The Crossings in 2006 located about 1.5 miles from RiverGate.

My husband and I went there often after it opened (I believe 2008) and for the most part enjoyed the quaintness of it, above average food, the better selection of wine, listening to Peaches on a Thursday evening and the close proximity from our house.

The food has always leaned toward being “creatively above par” due to quality ingredients and skills of the Chef.

My husband passed in 2017.

I recently felt isolated in my home of 17 years; yet, I didn’t like eating out alone.

I decided to get out and become social again; so, I went to The Wine Shop and sat at the bar as a widowed senior woman to enjoy the food, wine and social aspect with people in my community.

I have been enjoying red wine over the fall/winter at home; but, decided to switch to a lighter wine for the summer as I try to become social again.

When I went back to The Wine Shop with my agenda stated above I did a tasting of white wines from Spain and France. Over a 3-4 day period I went there everyday, spending top dollar, tipping generously and experiencing mutual respect between me and the staff. I felt social again.

My positive experience was very short lived as a few evenings ago I went there expecting another enjoyable experience. I sat in the proximity of my usual barstool and expected the usual quality treatment.

I picked out another white wine from Spain and asked for a taste. The taste was alright and I agreed to having a bottle. When the server brought the bottle I immediately noticed the bottle was larger than the quality bottles I had previously tried and it was Rosé.

I told the server it was not what I ordered and she said, “Yes it is”. I emphatically said, “No, it’s not. Why are you switching wines on me?

The manager overheard our conversation and said she told the server to switch the wine.

The manager said, “I don’t think it’s that big of a deal” and slapped down her bar mop. She said, “Do you expect me to tell you ever time I switch out wines”.

I said, “As a paying customer, I think it’s a big deal and Yes, I expect you to tell me.”

I got up and left to find a substitute place to have dinner until The Wine Shop in my community gets a more qualified, professional, customer oriented Manager with the knowledge and appreciation for fine wines.

After all, it is “The Wine Shop”. Please don’t embarrass me and my community by hiring a Manager who thinks a selection of wine is “Not A Big Deal”.

My wait...
