On Thursday, August 7th my Goddaughter and her friends were excited to go and experience Cava's new location at Rivergate after their grand opening on Monday. To their surprise there was an immediate complaint against them upon walking in from one of the employees who is also a student at their school. The girls were waiting to be service for about 10-15 minutes and after that time they were told to leave and they would be met by security/police outside. Unfortunately the result of that encounter was banning the girls anytime the employee is working there. This is completely unacceptable and the managers actions was absurd and a clear lack of training and experience. Once the manager received a complaint of uncomfort from the employee, she should've told the girl to stay in the back while she assisted the girls. To take it a step further she shouldve analyzed the environment to make sure the girls weren't being unruly. Why would a manager make anyone including guests feel uncomfortable and why loose business in the same manner. How would the girls know the employees schedule and why should they be subjected to that type of uncomfort. You're literally banning them in general and this can also be precived as an act of discrimination. This place just opened, customer service should be the last thing a person complains about. I ask Cava's corporate office and possibly their legal team to get involved immediately. Something needs to be done for the girls who were escorted out and banned and immediate training needs to take place for Tyesha the manager and...
Read moreMy niece recently shared with me an upsetting incident that occurred when she and a group of friends visited this Cava location for lunch. While they were simply waiting to place their order, an employee—who knows my niece and her friends from high school—told the manager she “felt uncomfortable” by their presence, yet gave no explanation or specific reason. Shockingly, the manager responded by involving the police and having the entire group removed from the restaurant.
There was no confrontation, no disturbance, and no inappropriate behavior from these girls—just a group of young people trying to enjoy a meal before returning to a scheduled sports commitment. Instead, they were publicly embarrassed, denied service, and treated as if they had done something wrong—without any justification.
As someone who values fairness and accountability, I find this deeply troubling. This situation could have been handled with more discretion, discernment, and respect. It raises serious concerns about how young people are treated in community spaces that are supposed to be welcoming to ALL!
I hope Cava’s leadership will take this matter seriously and use it as a learning opportunity to better train staff on conflict resolution and implicit bias. No customer should be made to feel unsafe, unwelcome, or criminalized for...
Read moreTerrible…. this is definitely a management issue!!!! Manager had the worst attitude she would be better fit for a mcdonald’s or something similar, she is so rude and has the worst attitude!!! There is no way this store is up to standard, No other cava in a 100 mile radius is ran anything like this store is being ran, it’s horrible!!! i feel bad for all the employees they are set up for failure!!!! Again this place needs NEW MANAGEMENT the african american lady that was behind the counter that is supposed to be a manager is extremely unprofessional and unpleasant to deal with, with all the issues you guys are having currently she will be no help in making this place any better. Also, it’s truly not the employees on the lines fault for these small portions, I witnessed myself a employee being berated after i asked for a extra portion of rice because I barely got a full scoop which I would have paid for was EXTREMELY UPSETTING!!! The girl was already clearly overwhelmed and that is insane for her to treat her like that in front of guests. I truly wish all the young workers here the best and there is definitely better out there, no store will be properly ran with low confidence and poorly trained workers like they have at this location....
