The Gray — Restaurant in Charlottesville

It's never fun to visit a loved one in the hospital, especially over Christmas. But in-between visits, our family stopped into The Gray (a little wine seemed to be just the ticket). What we found was a fun, warm, inviting environment. Noelle and her Dad made us feel at home, even though we were 600 miles from ours. We also discovered the fruits of their passion - amazing wines at amazing prices that we may have never experienced, but for this lovely little shop. The Gray’s wine guru, Lincoln, created the most amazing holiday “advent calendar” of custom curated wines. He asked me what my budget was and listened carefully to what my family wanted to quaff over the holidays. In addition to the merry bubbly, he put together a “tasting menu” of dueling wines. Since we’ve always wanted to know the difference between a $20 and a $50 bottle, Lincoln put together a number of such pairings for us to sip and contemplate. I visited this shop about a week ago. We bought several wines on the suggestion from Noelle the owners wine knowledge. I have wine exposure from living in, visiting, and tasting many wines and wineries in California for years. And then the Chianti region of Italy.
