I had a tough time deciding between a 3 and a 4 for D'Oro. The food is about a 3.6 but the service is barely a 3. Our evening began with a 15 minute wait for our reservation. While we were waiting just outside the kitchen, the owner was in the kitchen, saw us, but didn't feel the need to come over and make us feel welcome. Once seated, he opened our wine with zero conversation. Our waiter took our order, and the next time we saw him was on our way out. A server brought our salads and immediately left. No offer of fresh pepper or asking if we need anything else. No one else came by so we couldn't ask for pepper. (I know they have a pepper mill because later I saw one being used at another table.) A server brought our entrees, but no one came to our table throughout our main course until they cleared our plates.
As I said, the food is good, but not great. Our vegetables were barely cooked. For dessert we shared an Italian cheesecake. It came without anything except powdered sugar. No whipped cream or berries. The charisma-free owner brought our check, again with no banter other than a very simple thank-you. If the food was outstanding you might find a way to forgive being treated like you don't matter. But the food quality at D'Oro requires much better attention to the customer. This owner and his team do not seem up for it. With other very good Italian restaurants in the area at similar cost, we tried D'Oro but will not...
Read moreBy far the most spectacular dining experience. The food and service were outstanding. We came last night, on Valentine's Day, and we were not disappointed. We had the Calamari Fritti, Insalata Giulio Cesare, Pollo al Piacere and Lombata di Maiale con Giambotta. For dessert, we shared a lava cake. Everything from the food to the service was absolutely incredible. Everyone was super attentive and friendly; I truly enjoyed my experience there. I loved that no one was rushing you to eat, it was truly a perfect experience. We had forgotten to bring a bottle of wine and when we went to purchase one at the store nearby, they had just closed. The manager overheard this and was very kind to gift us one that they had. We were truly amazed at the wonderful hospitality and will most definitely be returning. It is a BYOB establishment, don't be like us and forget to bring it! Luckily, they do have a liquor store less then 2 minutes away walking distance. I highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be...
Read moreAte there tonight. From my understanding and feedback from others, this was an off night, but since it was my first and LAST time there, I can’t give it the benefit of the doubt. Beside the place being small and FAR too over packed, you can’t move in there. It took 40 minutes to just get bread. Another 10 before we heard the specials. Another 15 before we could order. Another 25 for our apps to come out. ALL SALADS and one meatball special app. How long can that take? Another 30 for our main courses. Mine was recommended. It was cold and flavorless. Not once did any server come and ask if our food was ok. Not once did they come around for more water. I had to ask 3 times for water. When we asked what the hold up was in the kitchen, our server was snippy and defensive when answering. That’s fine... others can go and try this place. They certainly lay can have my spot. I’ll...
