This review was from about 6 months ago. I edited it for some spelling or grammar errors, but missed some (and when I saved it, the date was also updated). We got the salad bar. Mine was a $10.91 after tax for just the salad bar. I think it was a little over $13 with a drink. There is a place for a tip when you pay. They also said they have a tip jar on the counter you can put cash in or you can leave one on the table if you want to. The only service you get at your table is after you are gone when you leave and they clean the table. I didn't order a drink. It would have been nice if there had been someone to greet us and tell us how it worked since this was our first time there. We finally ended up asking other customers. You order at the counter and pick up your salad plate at the end. If you order something they have to make, they give you a number and bring it to your table. They give you a large salad plate and a smaller bread plate with silver and napkins on a tray. If you want to go back, you have to bring your plate back up and they have you set it on a tray and give you a smaller salad plate for your next trip. The salad bar is mostly vegetables. They had two types shredded cheese and feta cheese. Other things the had: real bacon bits, hummus, broccoli salad, baby carrots (no shredded carrots), corn salad, giant white bean salad, potato salad (the good kind with dill pickles instead of sweet), pickles, pepperoncini peppers, jalapeno peppers, grapes, olive mixture, pasta salad maybe, many different kinds of salad dressings, cranberry raisin nut mixture, sunflower seeds, light and crispy toast, croutons, mini muffins (cornbread and applesauce muffins), several types of crackers, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, red wine vinegar. They had soft serve ice cream as well and some chocolate syrup. We used the plastic ice cream cups to try the different kinds of salad dressings before we saw the sign saying they were for ice cream. I wish they had reusable sauce cups at the salad bar because I hated using so many throw away cups. Dressings I tried were Thousand Island (ok), Blue Cheese (good), Jalapeno Ranch (my favorite), Greek Dressing (I think it was kind of strong. It was good, but if you put it on your salad, you will probably only need a small drizzle of it.), Green Goddess (I wasn't fond of it, but if you usually like Green Goddess dressings, you will probably like it). My mom liked the ranch dressing. The bar was well stocked and there was always someone at the bar refilling and making sure everything was fresh. If you are missing Ruby Tuesday's Garden Bar and don't want to drive to Athens, this is the place to go. Jason's Deli Garden Bar didn't have ham on it or a few other things that Ruby Tuesday's does when we went, but it sure beats driving from Chattanooga to Athens for a salad. They have a large dining room and the restaurant was kept clean including the women's restroom. * Edit - We came back for our second visit late Sunday afternoon. We had the Salad bar again. Food was still great. I tried the honey mustard dressing this time. It was a little more tangy and less sweet than some I have tried. This time there weren't any grapes or any other fruit. Unlike our first visit, this time I rarely saw anyone refilling anything. I asked several employees about putting out more crispy fried onion topping, but the container with crumbs remained empty on the bar for our entire visit. I wanted some muffins when I finished my salad, but it appeared that there were no more to be put out because the muffin baskets were removed and the cracker baskets were moved to the middle. I realize that sometimes places run out of ingredients, but one would think that a place that is open until 10 pm would not run out so early. On a positive note, We asked if we could get a To Go box because my mom who is going through cancer treatments started feeling nauseous and was unable to finish her first plate of salad and they did give us a container to take it in. That was a big plus...
Read moreOrdered to go on Christmas eve. Employee named Paige obviously did not want to be there. Mentioned how much I was paying for the food and that she wanted me to know how much I was spending on soup. (Not sure why it matters because it is contributing to her pay check/employment.) I would suggest she quit if she does not want to do the job or work on christmas eve. she was talking with an individual(not a customer) that came in about how she did not want to be there and what she thought about the customers calling in. I recall hearing "obviously I don't say that to them". Me just calling and being a customer I was very offended. Not to mention if it wasn't her significant other I would rather not purchase food where loitering/soliciting is going on. Especially considering the individual was wearing a hood the entire duration. Not sure why because it is illegal to conceal your identity. I am usually served by managers and it has been alright every time. so for me to have the experience I did was very upsetting. I would rather not hold it against this one experience and continue to be a Jason's deli customer and account carrier. The fact the company would lose money on one bad experience seems unfair. If there is another experience of the same instance I will never contribute to the company or employees again. Hope this gets...
Read moreI just left Jason's Deli and will never return. Whoever the young man behind the register 3 minutes ago at 3:35 today, needs a refresher in customer service and time management. There was literally two customers in line when an elderly lady in a group of about 8 to 10 others that had already ordered and were in the dining room, asked the young man to accommodate something minor. He told her he's too short staffed to help her. It wasn't a time-consuming task, he could have apologized and asked us to give him just a moment. I was still reading the menu so it wouldn't have bothered me and the other people were pretty nice, so I don't think it would have bothered them. Or he could have asked her to wait just a minute, because there was no other people coming through the door. He just refused to help her. The other people ordered, there was no one else in line, so I continue to read a menu that I had never seen before. My face is buried in the menu and I hear sir, SIR, I looked up and he said I'm ready to take your order. Seriously I'm the only person in line, yet he felt the need to pull my attention from the menu. That was juvenile. It then dawned on me that I probably don't want to eat...
