This location was busy during main lunch hours on a Monday, when I came in. Promptly led to a table, I ordered a medium well "Outlaw Ribeye," with crispy brussel sprouts. And, added soup: shrimp & lobster chowder.
The quality of the steak itself was excellent: juicy, tender, and a good size. The gratis wheat roll deserved commendation, as well. Yes, this review wouldn't have been written if no other issues was about food.
First problem: only half of my steak was prepared medium well. The other half was more medium rare. Basically, a bad rush job.
Next, the soup: at just $2.99 to add, I wasn't expecting much. Especially, shrimp and "lobster" chowder. Those quotes are on purpose, because the lobster pulled a disappearing act—could be some molecules were there. It reminded me of that pricey seafood joint in Seattle that offered a crab salad consisting 100% of krab.
And, my chowder had more of a stew consistency.
The last fault on another food item assured my deduction that there were lousy, inept cooks in the kitchen. Because, most of the brussel sprouts were burnt (see photo). Dark orange to brown, friable, extra bitter. Additionally, they were over seasoned with sugar, because why not? I salvaged about three sprouts and left a full dish uneaten.
The remaining issues were with service & silverware. I'd chosen to drink water and was asked if I'd like lemon (inside). I replied yes. I was given water without. When I reminded my server, instead of "sorry, I will get you another water" or "apologies, I will get you some lemon," I got a curt "OK" and later a cup of four lemon wedges. Which is akin to: "take all of these and shut up about it from now on."
My server also forgot how to smile, as a job requisite. Possibly not, however, because there was a cheerful attitude in his interactions with known customers/associates.
The silverware gripe? No butter knife. It was comical/silly to hold a huge steak knife and lift butter morsels.
Again, I would've ignored service and not written this review. Unfortunately, there were too many other food specific faults that dragged down a...
Read moreWent to Longhorn on 3/1 and it was the worst experience I've ever had there. First, we were seated between 2:30 and 3:00 pm. As the server went over the menu, at no time were we advised that the menu was incorrect and didn't include 2 sides as stated. Orders were placed according to the menu, with 2 sides, and when one in our group questioned whether they had to get 2 sides, was told no but it wouldn't change the cost. More than 20 minutes after ordering appetizers, they were delivered. Food was not delivered for another 18 to 20 minutes for a total of 40 minutes after order, at minimum. When food was delivered, the steaks were tiny, smallest steaks I've ever seen. My child's 6 oz might have been 4 oz before cooking. Her medium well was overdone on the outside and barely medium on the inside. The macaroni and cheese was so dry that it crumbled. My sweet potato had no cinnamon and my companions baked potato was dead before it ever was sent out, cooked under a heat lamp for hours too long. Broccoli tasted like fish, his steak was ordered medium and it was the texture of shoe leather. Not once was my drink refilled. The only bright spot was the bread. When the bill arrived, I was overcharged. When I pointed that out, a waitress said she'd have a manager adjust. The ONLY thing the arrogant "manager" did was change the bill so the overcharged items weren't carved out, and sent a new bill for the exact same amount. I guess they banked on less intelligent people just accepting their ridiculous ploy. I will NEVER be back. I'm complaining to corporate and requesting half of my money back. I would NOT recommend. Again, this was not a busy time, our server was apathetic from the moment we arrived, and only got worse the longer we were seated, until she ultimately disappeared. Other tables in our area were complaining, we were not and only questioned the check. It was honestly a very unpleasant meal and experience and capped off with a slap in the face at the mishandling...
Read moreMyself, my dad and step mom came in on Tuesday for lunch. We had literally just sat down and my dad gets a text from my brother, a personal one that detailed bad news. My dad says “oh my god.” My step mom says “what’s wrong?” The server over hears this and instead of greeting us says “oooo, yeah, what’s wrong? I wanna know the tea!!” There wasn’t any tea, my dad received bad news and this server had the audacity to not only say that, but to continue after my dad says “it’s bad news I don’t want to talk about it.” She pressed on and starts giggling saying “awww cmon! I wanna know what’s going on.” Why she decided to try to “act cute” and interject herself into our personal business is beyond me. My dad was trying to ask her to leave us and she wouldn’t drop it. Finally I had to get a little mean, shoo her away, and raise my voice for her to leave us be. Seriously…what the hell was that? Some of the rudest, most unprofessional behavior I’ve ever experienced dining out. She then tries to return and continue to act cute while she served us, but she couldn’t even answer any of the questions we had about the menu. What a joke. My ribeye was also razor thin and cooked well done when I ordered medium. For $25 that is not acceptable. Yes this happened four days ago, but the more I thought about it, the angrier I got. Unfortunately I don’t have this girls name, she was a younger blonde with a pony tail and flushed cheeks. We sat on the right side of the dining room around 1-2pm Tuesday. I hope the MOD or GM sees this and retrains their serving staff on proper etiquette because she made the entire situation worse, upset my dad, interjected herself into a personal matter that had nothing to do with her, and was overall terrible at her job. What a...
