I wanted to start out by saying that my wife and I have been in the restaurant industry for over 10 years. ( successfully). The host were great and the bartender was awesome and pleasant while we waited for our table. Once we were sat is where the issues started. The table was incredibly sticky and smelled like old mop water ( sani bucket water was obviously hours old ). The menu was inviting and we loved the large selection of sushi that they have there. We asked for calamari appetizer, then we were told it was out. No biggie, we pivoted and got the tuna nachos, spring rolls, and shrimp rolls which were fantastic in my opinion. Unfortunately, this is where the service took another hit. No plates, or sauces, or napkins. At this point the drinks we ordered when we first sat down finally arrived. Based on my earlier experience with the bartender, it seems the server just forgot to ring it in. Then we ordered our entree. The kids ordered the chicken with no sauce, wife and I ordered a couple of filets. My wife had a Lobster tail with hers and I had scallops and shrimp with mine. This is were everything collapsed. We never got any of our soups that were suppose to come with the meal. The meal took almost 30 minutes to arrive which once again shows me that the server did not ring it in on time. We arrived at the restaurant at 8 pm and did not get our meal till about almost 10. I got 3 chicken nugget sized pieces of filet as did my wife. Basically they split one filet between her and i and passed it off as 2 filets. Her Lobster tail was just horrible. It was chopped up to 3 or 4 overcooked pieces. No one ate that. We were asked if we wanted garlic sauce or teriyaki we opted for garlic on both my shrimp and scallops. Not what I got. I got the teriyaki which I'm just not a fan of. When we complained, the server just kind of shrug and said sorry then dropped the $300 check. Being from the restaurant industry myself, I never complain. I only like to leave great reviews because I understand how hard of an industry this is. However, I left so angry and I woke up the next day still upset and decided na, I'm writing this. This place has such high and amazing ratings that the whole family was excited. A complete let down. My wife and I eat out regularly at all types of high end restaurants. This experience was so bad that I felt obligated to write...
Read moreProfessionally, my husband and I are restraunteurs and habe opened many of our own including a sushi place in Florida. My son has an appreciation for Japanese culture and wanted to try some sushi and hibachi for one of his first times (he was a baby when we had our place). We chose totto based on reviews, however, we were soon disappointed. Family of 5 was lead to a spacious but very sticky table and menus. The server took more than his time getting our orders and serving us drinks...we figured it was busy and continued with happiness regardless. We ordered drinks...they said no pineapple juice..ok we revised. We ordered calamari app...they were out....we revised. We ordered 5 different sushi rolls they came beautifully even if we did have to wait for chopsticks and soy plate. The spring rolls, shrimp rolls, and all sushi was delicious. We ordered our hibachi dinner entrees. Both kids chicken with garlic sauce all 3 adults had filet with shrimp scallops and lobster. Here is where it got bad. After paying over $36 a plate for filet and lobster to get three tiny chunks of over cooked steak and lobster was shocking! The lobster was crisp, chewy, and absolutely cooked hammered. The seasoning was awful and portions so ridiculously small I was a sure they split one tiny filet between the 3 adults at my table. The lobster was cut in tiny pieces and displayed on the tail shell as if a whole shell...but the amount of lobster meat and look of shell was a dead give away, this was not a whole lobster tail but a portioned piece fashioned to look like a whole tail. So disappointing and had to explain to my son he didn't get the best experience and have to encourage him to keep trying. Huge disappointment with...
Read moreI’d like to preface with that my wife and I have eaten here before numerous times, but it has been about a year sense we last eaten here. We were genuinely excited to come and eat here again, but left disappointed.
Service was great, no complaints there, truly the issue was the food. I ordered uni , one of my absolute favorite things to eat at any sushi restaurant clean and well maintained enough to trust it, upon putting it in my mouth instead of the nice sweet But different taste I was met with what can only be described as putrid, upon further inspection, it seemed as though it had lost its brighter color and looked mildly grey. Okay whatever, it happens not saying it doesn’t. I waited eagerly for the seafood udon to get the horrible taste out of my mouth, it wasn’t bad, but it also wasn’t good. The broth was “fishy”, but not in the good way, like in the it tasted old way, the fish in the soup somehow managed to be dry, and lastly maybe just a personal opinion, but if you put shrimp in a soup I feel like removing the tails so that I don’t have to fish the shrimp out of the soup to than eat them with my hands. If the shrimp was fried I really wouldn’t care.
The resounding conclusion of the dinner party was that everyone’s food tasted old or at least not fresh. Even our dinner guest has said the fried vegetables as part of the bento seemed soggy and, and dare they say “seemingly reheated”.
Disappointed considering our initial excitement especially following a year...
