Excellent Upscale Hotel in an Ideal Location... My partner and I enjoyed a weeklong stay at this charming hotel and, overall, it was a wonderful experience! The Pros: The Edwin Hotel is a stylish, new, boutique style hotel ideally located for a visit to Chattanooga. The rooms are smallish, but very comfortable and clean, and beautifully decorated. There’s an artsy vibe to the place, and I liked the way each piece of artwork includes a small QR code that guests can scan to learn more about the artists. Every staff member we encountered was extremely friendly and professional, they made our stay here a real pleasure. I’m usually leery of hotel restaurants (which, even in luxury hotels, are often somehow pretty disappointing) but we took a chance and enjoyed dinner one night at Whitebird…and were very pleasantly surprised by the truly gourmet quality of our meal there The Edwin is in a perfect location, just steps away from The Tennessee Aquarium, the iconic Walnut Street Pedestrian Bridge (leading to beautiful Coolidge Park, just across the river), The Hunter Museum…and numerous inviting restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. The Cons: No bellmen are available, so be prepared to load a cart with your luggage and drag it to the room by yourself. Housekeeping service is only scheduled every third day, unless specifically requested. We actually asked for our room to be cleaned on the second day, and were told that it would be, but it wasn’t. Another minor complaint is that we had to call down for basic items like bath tissue, soap, and Kleenex…which really should be well-stocked (especially if the room will only be cleaned occasionally). That’s not the fault of the housekeeping staff, in my opinion, but more a result of the every-three-days cleaning policy. The in-house coffee shop and “convenience store” (for lack of a better term), Provisions, was rarely open during our stay, despite the hours of operation being posted as 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM each day. The items we purchased there were quite good, but we were disappointed that the place seemed to be locked up tight several times during the day when we might have liked to have picked up drinks or snacks. Anyway, for the most part, our stay at The Edwin was very enjoyable. I would absolutely stay here again…as well as recommend this hotel to other travelers!

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I'm a people person and love addressing people by name, I feel that it is important to acknowledge people. So here we go. We celebrated our 24th anniversary here and were not disappointed! Everything and everyone was FANTASTIC! From the valet with Clay to check-in with CJ and Marni (both ladies friendly and welcoming upon arrival and kind upon departure). The General Manager Merily was very thoughtful and provided us with drink tokens. The hotel is artsy and has some unique cool art and photos throughout the hotel. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. I loved the furniture. The food service manager Atilla was so personable and presented us with a special goodie! The service at the rooftop bar Whiskey Thief, (they serve non-alcoholic drinks also, delicious food by Chef Mike, beautiful views, nice comfortable nook areas to sit both inside and outside and the best top notch friendliest service - MAK, Payton, Will & Jason - servers, Renee & Nina - bartenders). They have a rooftop pool with nice lounging areas; a coffee shop called Provisions (manager Emma) in the lobby and fine dining at White Bird Restaurant on the first floor (where we had our anniversary dinner)! The presentation, the food, the cocktails, so delicious! Once again the service - our server Taylor and Lesha, manager were both wonderful! The entire 2 days exceeded our expectations! The location is great, walkable to other places to eat, an art museum, the Aquarium and The Ice Cream Shop is literally a few steps away! If you want to stay at a beautiful, amazing hotel that offers outstanding service and dining, visit The Edwin in Chattanooga, Tennessee!

Where do I even start? First, the location of the hotel provides the ultimate convenience for first-time and regular Chattanooga visitors. You are literally right off the TN river and can walk to an abundance of shops, restaurants, and any outdoor activity your heart desires. The room itself is well appointed with modern decor, yet there is a certain flair of southern influence throughout the hotel. We checked in later than expected our first night and ended up having dinner at Whitebird. The food was superb and is such a bonus because let’s be real- the majority of hotel restaurants are mediocre at best. You can enjoy an evening sipping an amazing cocktail while taking in the sunset of the TN river at the Whiskey Thief which is located at the top of the hotel. Get there early so you can nab a seat on the patio! The gym and pool are in pristine shape. Oh, and the pool has a great view of the city too so check it out. For valet you have the convenience of using an app to notify the attendants when you are ready for your car. There was never a long wait and the valet staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Oh, and the hotel is extremely clean and the staff took all precautions to ensure guests safety. The only change I would make is to the coffee bar called Provisions. The first time we ordered from there it took 15 minutes to order and nearly 10 more for our espresso and latte to be made. However, this is a such minuscule glitch to our overall experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Wedding at the Edwin Review Other than the scenery and the ambiance I would not recommend having your wedding here. We were set up with false expectations from the Catering Sales Manager. General manager was rude and condescending once we discussed our experience, we felt unheard and misunderstood after everything and never felt like we received a genuine apology. There’s a whole list of things that went wrong but here are some:

Catering Sales Manager advised she would be there the day of to answer questions, coordinate, collect the cake/flowers anything needed the day of.. she was MIA all day until the ceremony. My cake lady tried getting ahold of her, but her phone went straight to voicemail. I called the front desk for help, they advised they would reach out to her and call me but never heard a peep. She told us many things that were inaccurate..

Reception issues: We strictly advised we wanted appetizers passed out once family pictures were complete and main course to come out when bride/groom are done with pictures.. instead they passed out ALL the food before the reception even started. My own mother wasn’t even able to eat until later in the night because the food kept running out. We decided to do drink tickets one per person.. the conversation with the catering manager was, “It’s your responsibility to pass our drink tickets” but she failed to mention we had to create the tickets ourselves… when I talked to the general manager about this she said, “well why didn’t you follow up with her about making the tickets” well it never crossed my mind??? What place would make you “create” your own drink ticket when you’re spending over $8k to have your event there? The day of the wedding the catering manager actually argued with me about this.. after my wedding party told her to specifically not stress me out and tell me about the ticket and food situation, comes straight to me and says, “You were supposed to make the tickets oh and all the food has already been sent out but don’t worry there is enough food”. It’s hard for me to even believe they cooked enough food since some people didn’t even get any. The cake fee… we were told in person to cut the cake it was $5, we thought wow that is cheap sure.. we even made that comment. What they failed to tell us is that is it $5 PER PERSON TO CUT CAKE.. we spent $315 to cut the cake.. yet we have over half the cake left.

All they offered us was 15% off the food for compensation.. which we paid over $1720.50 for. You also have only one hour to set up for decorations and then you have to clean up all your decorations by the end of your rental space. We would’ve reacted way different to all these things if we felt any type of understanding or apology but yet we feel discouraged and just left a bad taste in our mouth.. We are Chattanooga locals and we’ve always loved the Edwin hotel but we definitely will not be visiting after...

This was our first family vacation with our two young sons. This hotel was centrally located in that we were able to walk to the aquarium, IMAX and many restaurants. The walking/running trail is literally right outside the hotel and the blue wooden trail bridge over the TN River was the first attraction our sons wanted to experience. The bridge is beautiful, especially at night from the hotel view. Literally, every single staff to management worker was so kind and accommodating to our entire family. The restaurant located within the hotel was so good, we ate there every morning. We would have enjoyed some cocktails on the roof top bar if we had not been traveling with such young children, but we did check it out and it was awesome! The gym and rooftop pool was really cool as well. The boys loved there was a heated outdoor pool on the rooftop; they said over and over how “fancy” this hotel was and they couldn’t wait to come back. The artwork throughout the hotel is beautiful, and the in-room soaps and extras were of high quality. While I consider this to be an upscale hotel, it was still an extremely family friendly place to stay. We have already recommended the hotel to family and friends and when we make it back to Chattanooga, I will not even stress about looking up reviews, studying hotels and ratings as we will go straight back to Edwin. The entire place was spotless and I’m extremely picky when it comes to germs. The bathroom was so clean it looked brand new. And after sightseeing all day at all the attractions with the kids, coming “home” to the nightly turn down service with fresh sheets, just hit the spot and we all were able to fall right to sleep. I could go on and on. Just trust me- I am extremely picky and my husband calls me high maintenance and this is true, lol, but this hotel surpassed my expectations. The only downfall is that I didn’t have enough time to go to the hotel’s spa. On the way out, I did stop by and buy a lavender scented weighted eye mask just so I had a little something, but the spa was beautiful and to be honest, I just didn’t want to leave the hotel. I hope this review will help you in your hotel decision, and trust that I was completely honest. This is not a paid nor sponsored review. I don’t even write reviews, but we had such a great experience. And when traveling with kids, I want to make sure we stay somewhere clean, safe, and accommodating. You really will love it here; whether you have kids or not,...

There is one thing about this hotel that was 5-star, and that would be the Whiskey Bar on the roof. The staff there was knowledgeable, friendly and in a word 'perfect'. Clearly this is where you find the professionals. The food here was amazing, with a whiskey list that rivals some of the finest restaurants in the country!

The hotel on the other hand was a disappointment. The room looked gorgeous but look a bit closer and you'll find it's working worse than your old college apartment, just a lot cleaner. Try and order room service, the TV menu is a pain to navigate and there's apparently no other way. Try calling the front desk, but the cordless phone will die long before they answer (that's if they feel like answering). The shower was nice until you realize that there's no handle on the door to get out, the sink won't drain, the toilet seat is hanging on by one bolt... it's the details that diminish the quality of stay. And that's just the room, which I could've easily ignored.

The problem is the staff. I'm not sure if they're just forgetful or if they're oblivious to their role in the service industry. My biggest issue was with the front desk. Check in was easy and straight forward as usual however, I had ordered champagne and strawberries to be in the room when we arrive at 4:00pm. Not anywhere to be seen so I walk down to the desk and was told that the "people who do that" were gone for the day... fine, no biggie. I'll just try again in the morning. Ordered the same at 11:00am, to be in my room when I return at 4:00p. I was assured that the request would be easily handled, saw her write a little note because the phone was ringing. Cut our trip sightseeing short to be back for this little treat. Nothing. I tried the same thing the next morning, same time, same result. So, end result was no special treat for my lady, and continued disappointment for me. As a romantic type, I was extremely put off. This sort of thing has always been accomplished by the staff at most hotels I've stayed at in the past. It's always put such an unexpected smile on my lady's face it's practically the only reason I stay at places like 'this'. There are more things I could point out, like never seeing smiles when you come or go... It's odd what you miss. There was just this 'Get it yourself' attitude I got from most of the front staff the ones you usually interact with. Credit where credit is due, the cleaning staff was very kind and helpful. VERY clean...
