We were visiting Chattanooga and decided we'd try Cashew. It wasn't our first choice because neither of us is vegan, but we're vegetarian. Close enough. I always read other reviews to see what folks think of the place and I was surprised to read that that, according to some customers, the service is poor. This was not our experience at all! Our server was so friendly! She helped us navigate the menu and recommended items, all of which were superb (except one, see below)! We had the chips and "cheese" to test out the fare; it was delicious. Then we continued on to the Jackfruit BBQ Nachos, the Meatball Sub, and a side order of Brussel sprouts. We wanted to try everything! Our server assured us that the nachos would be the most amazing thing we'd ever tasted and I can say without any hesitation that she...WAS. NOT. WRONG! I would go back every day and twice on Sundays for that dish! Sadly I live too far away to indulge! Of all the things we had, the Brussel sprouts were the only thing that I wasn't crazy about. To be fair, I rarely like Brussel sprouts at restaurants; I don't know why I ordered them. Perhaps because if any restaurant is going to do them well, a restaurant like Cashew would be it. To be clear, they weren't awful. Perhaps others like them cooked this way. I found them to be generally undercooked and overcooked at the same time. Still crunchy (might should be steamed beforehand) and yet too brown during roasting. That said! I didn't take off any points -- didn't even consider it -- because of it! It's still a highly recommended eatery in my book!

The food was standard vegan food. I ordered a veggie pick 3: cashew salad, Mac & cheese, chips & cheese dip. It was well made & good. However, our waitress was so impatient. She brought our ticket before anyone was finished eating. She returned less than 5 minutes later to ask if we were done. I’m clearly still eating & have half my food still on the plate. She then reaches and asks if she can take the plates. My husband steps in and says yes, this one is empty and handed one from the other side of the table that was empty from someone else. He’s usually a super nice guy, but when she walked away he said “that was rude. You’re clearly not finished eating.” This was extremely upsetting and unnerving to be continually rushed as she did. I am recovering from Anorexia and the last thing I need a waitress doing is literally trying to take the dish im eating so we can hurry up & leave to get a new customer in. I ended up taking my food in a to go box to eat in the car since we are out of town. We would have tipped accordingly for our time had we not been continually pestered. It’s unfortunate no one can come here to enjoy a meal and spend time with their family in a relaxing environment. The food was great, but I would never want to eat here again.

I called to place a catering order with 48 hrs notice. The person I spoke with said that would be plenty of notice, to send an email and I would hear back after 12 - 24 hours.

24 hours later I never heard back. So I called to ask if it looked like it was an order they would be able to fill or not. I just wanted a large container of BBQ Jackfruit. I spoke with a girl who's only response was, I just work here, that would be up to the owner so there's nothing I can do. I asked if she could reach out to the owner and she said they're not allowed to contact the owner during business hours because they're not allowed to be on their cell phones. She said she could leave a message with a manager who would be in later that day but I told her that was too long for me to wait for a response so I could know if this order would be fulfilled or if I'd need to order from somewhere else. Again she responded that there's nothing she can do and she just works there. Then she set the phone down and wouldn't answer anymore. Horrible experience. Terrible customer service skills. Why would anyone respond with "I just work here." Of course you do or else you wouldn't be picking up the phone, and if you work there then you should be able to contact your boss, a manager or the catering crew to be able to get a response. She should probably instead say, I just pick up a paycheck here.

As soon as I got off the phone I suddenly got an email in response to my order. They said they need at least 5 days heads up. I was told 48 hours was plenty of time, and if it's 5 days then that should be on the website so people would know that they aren't submitting with enough time. I would have not submitted and gone ahead and found a...
