A little Utopia exists here full of quaint gorgeous buildings. This was the perfect hotel traveling with toddlers across the country. The blocks owned by this family are very safe for walking and families and absolutely interesting & gorgeous. We really enjoyed our after dinner stroll through all the blocks & nooks and crannies and alley ways and the beautiful short walk adjacent to the Hunter Museum on way to the Walnut Pedestrian Bridge. I’m usually very nervous with toddlers & bridges but this was so safe and charming on a Friday night about 10pm. We saw lots of families and ice cream and fireworks from the stadium. There was no trash on the streets of downtown Chattanooga or homeless or smokers blowing smoke in our face. That was very nice. I was so impressed with Chattanooga. We booked the Morgan Suite in the main house as I’m a terribly light sleeper and I hoped the top floor and quiet street would be quiet and it was. I loved that they supplied a small fan in the closet. I plugged it in case I heard any street noise yet I didn’t hear anything all night. Hotel room is huge and my toddlers loved the large living room and balcony facing the river and the bedroom. I liked that it had a door to close and shut off. I slept so great here and the closet was huge my toddlers tried to sleep in there playing house which was too funny. Bathroom was nice and all the decor was so quaint and I loved the paint color in all the rooms. I was so surprised by all the previous reviews complaining about piddly stuff in my opinion. If I were staying at a mainstream hotel this size room and quality with separate living quarters would be $$$$. I was very pleased to pay $300 for this room. The same room at a Hilton would be $900 and also the Ritz would be $2000. I definitely think people picking on weird small stuff in thier reviews thought they were paying $2000 to stay at a Ritz. My toddlers even loved the bathroom in the lobby as there were two cozy chairs there for them to sit and wait on me. The main reason we booked this on the weekend was the breakfast buffet on the weekends. We were the first there at 8am and the eggs, sausage & yogurt were so good. The nice lady working the buffet helped me and my toddlers get drinks often OJ & water and coffee and she helped us get whatever we wanted. We left a $20 tip she was so helpful and made our breakfast so nice. She even let us refreeze our freezer packs for our cooler in the freezer in the kitchen. My husband said the biscuits were the best he has eaten in a long time and the scones and muffins were fantastic we had to take one for the road. I’m gluten free and I was surprised when I asked the keeper went to the bakery across the street to get me 3 gluten free muffins. They were so delicious and a pleasant surprise as I’m used to going without so many times. I will stay here again next year on our yearly voyage to a summer house. I wish all the towns were as nice and gorgeous as Chattanooga. Also it was very enjoyable to stay on site and eat at Tony’s and we were able to get a reservation last minute from the innkeeper. There were patrons not staying at the hotel waiting 2 hrs for a table so we felt fortunate. The food was exquisite and huge portions and true authentic Italian. They even offered great selections for gluten free. I was able to get bruschetta & chicken Parmesan gluten free and added vegetables. My toddlers ate it up it...

Rebecca went above and beyond during our stay, answering multiple questions, setting up reservations at Tony’s, and even bringing up wine glasses on a tray with an ice bucket for us one night. We will continue to stay here whenever we visit Chattanooga!
2022: This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and we had an amazing stay at the bluff view inn! We stayed in the Frierson room, which was in the Maclellan house (the main house of the three). The house had a few sitting rooms on the main floor including a dining room that would be great for business work if needed or just looking out onto the river (it has a great view). Our room was spacious, cozy, and perfect for the two of us! As the website says, it had a little view of the river through our window and the room had lots of natural light during the day. We could control the temperature in the room, which was nice with the July heat. Check-in was super quick and easy and the innkeeper gave us great tips about the area and was incredibly informative. Every day there is a newspaper clipping set out with events around town for the day which is so thoughtful!
Parking was included with our stay around the bluff district. Bottled water was available in our room daily and there were soft drinks and ice buckets that we could bring up to our room as well. Fresh coffee was also available at 6 am everyday as a little head start to our morning.
One of our favorite parts of our stay was the included breakfast at Rembrandts right down the street! Their coffee is absolutely delicious and they have heavenly pastries, chocolates, and an abundance of breakfast options to choose from! We loved starting our mornings on the patio here at one of our favorite places in all of Chattanooga. We also loved having a reservation at Tony’s (across the street) included as well, which is always super busy because their authentic, freshly made Italian pasta is hands down the best! This is definitely a place you do not want to miss.
Additionally, you seriously cannot beat the location of this bed and breakfast as it is within walking distance to everything! The walnut bridge is right down the road and the aquarium is down the street. This really is a walker’s paradise - we loved going on the riverwalk in both directions, exploring the city center, and even going all the way to the south side of the city. Everything was so close by and we loved how easy it was to get to it all and come back to our home base on the bluff!
The only improvements we could suggest for making our stay 5/5: -the bed was very firm for our taste, but of course everyone is different, so it could just be us. However, I think some sort of mattress topper might be a good addition! -the pillows were pretty flat, but again this is subjective and we could have just brought our own -outlets/available wall plugs were very few and far between in the room, but this is a very old house so we get it. However, additional power strips may be helpful if that is allowed!
Overall these are just minor things we noticed and they definitely did not significantly impact our stay. We had an absolutely wonderful time staying here and will definitely be...
Read moreMy fiancé and I visited this place yesterday because I absolutely love history and bed and breakfasts and learning about the story behind them. I was so excited to visit and talk with them about renting a room there for our wedding night. The first lady that greeted us as we walked in was really sweet. She welcomed us, gave us a brochure, and told us to have a look around and that the “boss” would be there soon. As we were walking down the stairs we came to this woman, who was the boss the previous lady spoke of, and she had this awful look on her face like she was appalled we were there. She said “is there something I can help you with?” in an extremely aggressive manner. Honestly I was taken back by this and confused I didn’t understand why there was such a hostile tone. I responded and told her yes, that we were looking around and wanted to stay there soon on our wedding night. She “popped” her lips in the most sarcastic manner and said “…….okay” really slow and drawn out in the most condescending tone. I could not believe we were being treated that way. I’ve never been greeted like that in my 41 years of existence. She was an absolutely awful mannered woman and I feel so sorry for the sweet lady that has to work under her. I plan to share this experience on other platforms as well because I would hope no one wants to support a business that treats people like this. My fiancé and I were in our walking clothes so not necessarily dressed up, not sure if she was being judgmental or what the situation was. I racked my brain all day on this because I was flabbergasted by this woman and how ugly she acted towards us. We were having a beautiful morning and that really put a damper on my day. We have been welcomed with open arms by literally every one else in Chattanooga. I love this city and I realize there can be bad apples every where, I guess I just met my first...
