Stopped by to get postcards since Iām not local. Man at the counter sounded like he was having a good conversation with two customers who just bought something.
Iām indecisive and they didnāt have many postcards at the time but it took me a while to decide on one. The postcards are near the checkout counter but I was standing on the other side to social distance since the other customers there were not wearing masks. Not sure what the difference between those two customer and me was, but after they left, the man at the counter walks to the side of the counter and stares at me picking postcards. Maybe I seemed suspicious because I took so long, but I no longer felt welcomed.
Finally picked one out and put it on the counter just to get out of there. When I put it down, I realized my boyfriend was holding my wallet and he had gone outside. Told the man at the counter that and even left the postcard on the counter so it didnāt look like I was going to leave with it. When I walk outside to get my credit card, I turned around and see he had left the counter to see if I was going to come back, I guess? Regardless of the reason, I came back in to pay and the man who talked so well to two previous customers had no feeling of friendless left. All he mentions is there is a $3 credit card limit so I can get another postcard.
I wish I just left instead of picking up another postcard but I had felt so much pressure already. I paid for the postcards but thoroughly disappointed that this was the way my trip ended. Iām sure this is a nice place to get souvenirs, from the other reviews Iāve read, so I am disappointed that that was the interaction...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOwner has a dogs welcome sign at the door. My husband and I walked in with our dogs and the owner had a stupid yippy dog behind the counter and she let it run at our dogs. One of ours is friendly but the other gets freaked out by dogs running at it while barking. Thankfully my husband thought quickly and scooped him up(60 lbs and all!) She kept saying oh he's not aggressive he's just anxious. I have two very sweet pit bulls that would have automatically been blamed if that dog bit one of them. You might want to rethink your policy or tell your owners/employees to leave their aggressive ankle...
