I brought my wife to Lake Chelan, and it's our first time dining at Campbell’s Pub & Veranda. We love a few things, and we have to be honest with our viewers. We want to share our dining experience.
First of all, the restaurant is in a beautiful setting right on the shore of Lake Chelan, which caught our attention as we crossed the bridge. As soon as we unloaded our baggage at the resort, we headed straight to Campbell’s Pub. The front desk clerk was fantastic, and she seated us in the bar section right away. Seating in other areas requires a reservation, she said.
The server was great! I didn't quite get his name, but I talked to Jon. I believe he’s one of the managers there. Anyway, let's move on to the food.
We ordered a cocktail drink and four items on the menu. The crispy calamari steak and the shrimp & coconut cakes came first. The calamari is crispy and good with the cocktail sauce. It's breaded with panko-like crumbs and tastes like chicken katsu. The shrimp and coconut cakes were warm on the outside and cold on the inside. When Jon stopped by, he asked, “How’s everything?” I told Jon that the calamari is delicious. Then I asked him if the shrimp and coconut cakes were supposed to be served cold. It's an honest question since I haven't had it before. Jon said, “No, is it cold?” I said, “Yes, cold on the inside and a bit warm on the outside.” He said, “Let me take it back and get you a new one.” I thanked Jon, he is great.
We got the shrimp and coconut cake redo and it came a bit charred this time. My wife and I scraped off the char and enjoyed it. It's good with the sweet sauce that came with it. The sirloin steak and burgers were good. It's just the steak I had was a bit charred and chewy. It’s a bit hard to slice through with the knife that I got. It felt more like a butter knife, trying to cut the steak with it. IDK, but the meat was a bit chewy. The burger was delicious.
All in all its a great dining experience for us. I would have given Campbell’s Pub & Veranda five stars, but I have to minus one for the warm on the outside and chili cold on the inside on the shrimp and coconut cakes. Regarding the sirloin steak, maybe I'll order medium rare next time to see if it makes...
Read moreI wanted to share by writing a review on Google reviews today but I think you should know about my experience. We made reservation for my Mother's 71st birthday because my parents love to be in Chelan in this time of year and they have stayed at Campbell's for their anniversary every October. We couldn't get a room for all of us at Campbell so we had to stay in Manson but we still came to our favorite spot which Campbell's . Kevin , I believed it was Kevin was serving us . He wasn't very enthusiastic person , we wanted to order Oysters for appetizer, he just said very short " we don't have Oysters " but without offering us different things . My husband ordered filet bites for appetizer, and asked Kevin about Primerib, Kevin also just said oh we don't have Primerib, if so we should have it by 6. It was a few mins before 6pm. We politely asked Kevin to double check with kitchen , he did and said yes now we have it now . The time that we wait for our entrée was 42 mins long , I could tell that Our foods got forgotten or something going on in the kitchen. We saw Kevin got sat with the big top at least 12 people . I had to ask the busser to get Kevin's attention. But he did never came around. Food came finally, my Primerib was jiggly raw. We sent it back , and since we were very hungry I just want to cook it a bit more without complaining. I just want to eat . It came out medium . The quality of the Primerib wasn't good. It was chewy, if I pay 48$ for a slice of Primerib, please at least it would be soft and tasty, but it wasn't. Every single dirty plates, bread basket were all over the table, our table was small indeed , but we told Kevin when we ordered the lemon cake for dessert, the busser brought it out with 2 spoons , and couldn't even find a spot for it since our table was full of dirty wares. We were very disappointed , we asked for our bill, it was $174. We gave Kevin $200 and left. Kevin was not a good waiter , he didn't deserve our...
Read moreI agree with a previous reviewer: They have altered their menu to mimic an overpriced artsy restaurant. I paid over $81 for one person for prime rib, a dinner salad, one glass of their house wine and their chocolate desert. The menu was interesting. It along with the prices had my expectations high. The salad was completely ordinary and the only thing that was acceptable. The prime rib was cold and appeared old. First time I've been served brown gravy with it instead of au jus. It was completely dry and old, easily the worst prime rib I've ever had and I've been ordering it my entire life. The "smashed potatoes" and "wilted greens" served with it were highly unexceptional. The potatoes were small little potatoes lightly fried in some grease, that is it. Absolutely nothing showing the least amount of effort. The foccacia bread served with the meal was gross. It's what you can buy off the shelf at any grocery store. Given the price of the dessert, I expected it to be exceptional. It was a scoop of Italian ice cream over something crusty smothered in Hershey's chocolate syrup. It was ridiculous. It was not anything house made. Thinking back, this is the most I've paid for a meal in my life, and I've had some exceptional meals. Given the busyness of Chelan, I wouldn't expect anything to change soon. The place was packed. If you're tempted by the atmosphere and up going, I would order a burger and not set my expectations high. Do not drop a ton of money expecting a treat. Totally unbelievable. I want to make it clear, this is one of the worst meals I've had out if I had paid any price. It wasn't just awful...
