So, the romaine from the Caesar salad seemed like it was the undesirable lower half of the stalk. This would’ve been fine if the dressing was amazing, but it wasn’t. Salad tasted washed out. The croutons were amazing though! I got the porcini crusted ribeye with the 15yr aged balsamic. The thicker part of steak had zero marbling. The steak was tender because it was aged but the flavor and texture were lacking because of the missing fat content. For $78 for a steak…it definitely fell short of what was expected. The sides, which were “ for the table” were minimally portioned and lliterally enough for two people. So if u have for 4-5 m guests, like I did, be sure to order at least 4 sides. We ordered the brussels and were sadly disappointed. They were overcooked to the point that every leaf to the core felt like dry fall leaves from the ground. There was no succulent center. The bright spot was that I didn’t need to explain my disappointment for the server to remove them feom the bill. I definitely would’ve taken a better prepared portion but she didn’t even offer that option. . Lobster Mac was mediocre as was the Potatoes Au Gatin. I din’t have the Lobster Mac n Cheese because it don’t look appealing, but the people who did have it were not impressed. I will say the Truffle Fries were AMAZING!!! The customer service was also amazing! Mary and Mary took care of us! The “In Fashion” Old Fashion cocktail was top tier! We had to request a bread basket after sitting an hour, and the brown bread with golden raisins was phenomenal. So was the sliced bread with onion and cheese (may have had garlic too). The Birthday girl was not impressed with her lamb chops but they were good enough! Like I said, I had the ribeye with aged balsamic and was not impressed . I checked in with the lady in our party who had the bone-in NY Strip about how she liked it and her response was “Mine is better!” The Birthday Dessert provided was amazing! Small samples of Crème Brûlée, Flourless cake and something else. An Absolute MUST! And I will say, the gentleman taking care of refilling out ice water was ON POINT! I had 2 drinks, birthday girl had 2 drinks and the 3 others in out party had 1 drink. We split the bill between the 5 of us and with tip it came to $148. A decent price for the night overall but disappointed in the steaks. Will be taking my wife elsewhere for out date...
Read moreYesterday, around 8:30 p.m., my boyfriend and I were looking for a restaurant to eat after leaving the Cherry Hill Mall. I had been craving pasta, so that was my only requirement. We passed The Capital Grille, which my bf swore he'd been to before, but his memory is a little foggy sometimes because he's a military Veteran who has served our country for many years. We walked in and were greeted warmly before being introduced to our server Oscar and our waitress STACY*.As we sat, I noticed that we were in the restaurant's back left corner, and that many of the black customers were also seated along the back wall (just an observation). We asked Stacy if there was any pasta on the menu, and she said no, which was when I realized my boyfriend had misidentified the restaurant.Stacey said they might have had it as a special before, but she had only been working there since March and didn't know for sure. She suggested lobster mac and cheese (which isn't pasta in my opinion), which I just went with because we had already eaten the bread that was brought out, which made me feel obligated to eat at the establishment. Fast forward to us leaving because we realized we were forcing ourselves to eat food we didn't have a taste for. My boyfriend offered to pay for the bread and water they brought us, but Stacy politely declined. We left but left our keys behind. As my boyfriend returned to the restaurant to get the keys, he overheard Oscar asking Stacy why we left, and Stacy replied, "BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT AFFORD THE FOOD." They had no idea my boyfriend was standing/walking behind them. My boyfriend then took money from his pocket to show them that we could afford it and that we had previously explained why we were leaving. This was an embarrassing and humiliating moment for my boyfriend because he felt compelled to prove himself to people who had no right to make such a judgemental and insensitive assumption about us. We will not return to this establishment because one bad apple surely...
Read moreVery impressed with The Capital Grille food options. As this was my first time dining at this restaurant, I was eager to try a little of everything on the menu, but I did behave myself a little.
For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and the lobster and crab cake. These were both absolutely delicious. The hot peppers were such a wonderful add to the calamari and the lobster and crab cake was to die for. Definitely one of the most tasteful lobster and crab cakes I ever had.
We also ordered the lobster bisque soup which was a special for the night and the French onion soup. Both were delicious; however, if I ever get the chance to order the lobster bisque again, that will be the option I go with. The large pieces of lobster filled every spoonful. Absolutely my favorite part of the night.
For our main course, I ordered the bone-in ribeye with balsamic and my wife ordered the filet mignon. As this restaurant is known for their steaks, I was slightly underwhelmed with the toughness of both steaks. We ordered them medium but felt it was closer to the well-done side. The edges of the filet mignon were very tough which did not give us the soft, buttery texture we typically expect from such a cut. I recommend going rare in the future to ensure the cut is softer and juicier.
Along with our dinner, we ordered the parmesan fries and the au gratin potatoes. Honestly, at this point, we were way too filled to truly enjoy these sides. I tasted them slightly and they had a nice taste and texture.
Definitely want to go again and try another steak option, but will definitely go rare for a better tasting cut. Highly recommend to meat lovers. Portions are unbelievably larger than anticipated, so be sure to go on an...
