La Parrilla Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Chesapeake

Edit: I hate to downgrade places. I really do. We regularly went here for a while and it was great. But tonight was the third time in a row, on different nights at different times, that I've been seriously disappointed. I don't know if they got a new manager or new kitchen staff or what, but the quality has really gone downhill lately. The first couple times I brushed it off as bad luck, but three in a row is too much. They got my order wrong, then brought the right one out wildly overcooked (I ordered medium rare, got extra well done), then when I sent that back it came back practically uncooked. I get that they were trying to be fast, but I would have much preferred to wait while they did it right. My friend's order was correct, but the fish was overcooked and the rice was undercooked.

Everything we ordered was absolutely excellent. We've ordered from this restaurant twice. The first time was through GrubHub the second time was a pickup both times the food was perfect. I ordered the chimichanga meal the first time which were amazing and the second time I got the shrimp and rice with sour cream on the side added and it also very very good I got pink lemonade both times because it is also really good my mother got the kids enchilada she loved and chimichangas it a a bit to spicy for her but i thought the spice was good mild heat and she loved love both of them stepdad got pork burrito which he said was alright. My mother was also raving about their white salsa she absolutely adores it she wishes she'd gotten a bigger container of it and I already know for a fact she's going to send me back to get more! I would absolutely recommend anybody who wanted to try this place. My family and I had the pleasure of eating here last night, 12/20/24. I am not a fan of Mexican food ....BUT!!! last night's experience changed my mind. La Parilla set the standard very high, I am not sure if any other Mexican restaurants I visit, will be able to make me as satisfied as I was at La Parilla. The food is excellent! Fresh food, great portions and just overall perfect. All 9 of us were more than satisfied with the appetizers, main course and service. Excellent experience for us. We will be back whenever we visit Chesapeake. We cannot forget our server who made the experience even more enjoyable. We could not ask for a better server......Alejandro was PHENOMENAL!!!! He was professional, attentive, informative, patient and very pleasant, we will request him when we return. Our experience last night causes us to say we will be back.
