Do not EVER go to Mimi's for sanitary reasons OR if you have ANYTHING to do within 2 hours of arriving, ESPECIALLY when it's dinner service time.
2 stars go to the food. The food is ALWAYS a delight to eat. I LOVE their food. I haven't had a meal that dissatisfied me, and I swear on my life their artichoke dip is to die for.
The SERVICE, however, is almost a painful experience every time. Tonight was like being held hostage by my own morals of paying for service rendered, but the negligence of the staff was so astronomical that if someone walked out without paying, they totally could.
We ate for maybe a total of 30 minutes but were stuck there for almost two hours total because we were rarely checked on and food took so long to arrive. If I didn't get up and demand my check, I probably would have been stuck there for a half hour more, but what was ASTOUNDING was that instead of CLEANING TABLES (there were four tables with glasses, plates, leftover bread that were left UNTOUCHED for well over an HOUR), the staff was sitting in the back on their phones, placing calls, chatting with each other, and eating desserts. I have worked service, and I appreciate/applaud downtime to breathe and relax, but would never DARE to do so when there was actual HYGIENIC WORK to do.
I had to get up and ask for the check, and when I did, the waitress had absolutely zero sense of service and practically ignored that I was standing at the register in the room hoping she would notice I was standing there when she turned around my way. I don't like to hassle people, so I hate even more when I have to rush someone to. I had to call to her to get her attention and say "Hey, I need to pay the check and leave". She said, "okay," rather flippantly, and proceeded to walk over a basket of bread to the fridge and very slowly pulled out several cups of butter to put in the basket before even going over to get my check. No one had been checked on for several minutes, and some other tables who were there longer than us realized how long they had been left alone when I finally stood up to get my check. I hope they got their checks in a timely manner.
I hate to hassle staff, especially when I notice there's only a small handful of service workers in, but to leave tables unclean during a pandemic and instead be on your phone and chat with one another is horribly negligent in a place where eating takes place and transfer of bacteria is risky business. It's even worse to leave people waiting for extremely long periods of time and have no sense of urgency when they clearly need to leave after having been there for way too long due to negligence.
I will not return, given the lackadaisical approach to hygiene...
Read moreThis will go down as one of the absolute worst meals I've ever eaten in St. Louis. It was also one the worst managed restaurants I've ever seen. My family had some unexpected out of town guests fly in. My husband fondly remembered eating here and suggested we go here as it was close to Spirit of St. Louis Airport where our guests' plane was hangered. I will give the general manager credit for getting us seated right away, even though there was a line of people out the door. They had a limited Easter menu that would best be described as a Thanksgiving menu with orange sauce offered on the ham. I found the limited options overly heavy for the warm weather and time of year. Who serves bread pudding and lava cake as spring desserts? I expressed my frustration early on in the meal when I went more than 10 minutes without my water glass filled, even walking up to the bar to request a refill of my son's and my water glasses. Appetizers were dropped off and two different managers walked by our table without addressing our water cups. Our server also refilled coffee at our table without addressing the low/empty water cups. The general manager was right there when I complained. Our waitress also took to yelling right in my ear while attempting to serve our table. I had an empty water glass for most of the meal, which was more than two hours for food that had obviously been prepared in advance but not kept within safe food serving guidelines. My Cesar salad had too much dressing. Our soups and salad took 30 minutes to arrive. When our food arrived more than an hour in, everything served was cold. The pasta dish had obviously been sitting in the window for more than ten minutes. My husband's pot roast was smothered in an obnoxious amount of gravy. The mashed potatoes and cornbread stuffing were like cafeteria food served at restaurant prices. Both side dishes were found to be inedible. Had I not been so hungry, I wouldn't have eaten the cheap cut of ham served for our Easter meal. The bread pudding and chocolate lava cake arrived cold to the point of being almost frozen. Everyone in my party had an issue with a male bus boy or server who rudely cut in front of us. I'm 8 months pregnant and he brushed right out in front of me when I came out of the restroom. We left the restaurant embarrassed by the extremely poor service and cold food while still hungry. When our server asked if we wanted boxes with nearly full plates, she failed to ask how the food was. I really hope that this restaurant's management sees this review and learns from our absolutely...
Read moreLast Saturday 4/17/21 was my first time visiting this Cafe for a Birthday brunch. There was 8 of us at the table and Debbie was our server. She provided good service, she checked on us when she could! We put our orders in with no problems, our food/drinks was delicious. I've waited a week, to post my review, because I was told by the manager Justin, that he would void the wrong amount off of my card. After being charged the second time with the wrong amount. I was given my original receipt which was 20.71, I was charged 32.00. I went up to Debbie and said, 'excuse me, I was charged $32.00.' She replied with, 'Let me go and see what happened!' When she came back, she said, 'I apologize about you being charged the wrong amount, here is your receipt.' I looked at Debbie and said, 'thanks, no problem.' Debbie responded with, 'sometimes the screen moves things over. I voided the other amount and charged you this amount.' I looked at the receipt and my jaw dropped, again this was not the amount from my original receipt. I had now been charged 26.50. I went up to the counter and said, 'excuse me ma'am, this is not the right amount on my receipt.' Debbie replied with, 'give me a moment, I'm counting money.' I said, ' when you are finished, I need to speak with a manager, this is ridiculous.' Debbie started saying, 'people don't understand about the machine bumping amounts over. I can't do anything!' I responded, ' If your machine is charging the wrong amount, it needs to be fixed. It doesn't mean that I have to pay the wrong amount. This is the second time I was charged the wrong amount.' Justin came out, I explained the issue to him. He began soothing the server like she needed to be held. ' Thanks Debbie, I know you tried. It's okay, I'll take care of it. I need to fix my software. I apologize for the error. I will take off the second amount and charge you with the 20.71' We went back and forth about the machine and Debbie's rude responses. Justin, then replies, 'We are just going to take care of your meal because you seem aggravated!' I responded, 'I am not aggravated, I am trying to understand, why the amount wasn't checked before it was charged to my card? Not once, but twice? You, Sir are aggravated that I continue to ask questions. You are huffing and puffing at me. I'm just wondering why you guys can't check the amount before you charge it?' Justin said it would take 3-4 days to void and it's been 7! Thanks for the delicious food. But I will never come back! It is so wrong to treat...
