Taureaux Tavern — Restaurant in Chicago

I held a private event at Taureaux Tavern for about 40 people. I cannot recommend them highly enough. The process of planning the event extremely smooth and they were very flexible on working with us to achieve what we wanted. We had the outdoor patio space, which was perfect because it allowed us to have an outdoor event that could quickly transition in case of bad weather. At the event, the staff was exceptional! In particular, the two bartenders, Ivan and Yessica, were so good to my guests and did everything they could to make the event a success without hesitation or complaints. Finally, the food was fantastic. The Gougères were out of this world as was the garlic aioli for the fries. As the planner I tried everything and it was all delicious. The highest compliment I can give is that the food was delicious when it first came out and was still delicious a couple hours later, even after sitting under heat lamps. Overall, I thought the cost of the event was very reasonable for what we got. The venue was fantastic as was the food...

The waiter was very nice, but it was one thing after another. Once seated we had to wait about 15 mins to be greeted by our waiter. Mind you we are on a 1 hr lunch. The bartender couldn't make the drink my friend wanted, nor was he able to research it on google to find out out how. My friend orders vodka straight with a splash of cranberry. When he receives it, the drink is cranberry with a splash of vodka. Takes our food order. The easiest leaves, comes back with a shot of vodka on the house but proceeds to tell us they are out of Turkey for the club sandwich! Its only 12:45 pm and they are out! So we make it simple, a burger med-well and a French onion soup. Our food doesnt arrive until 1:30. At this point we have to leave. The burger looked over cooked and the soup was very salty. Left it and packed the burger to go. Very disappointed. Does not compare to...

I was back home in Chicago recently visiting from Los Angeles when I came across an IG post from Taureaux Tavern of a beautifully roasted 1/2 chicken, I had to try it. I dropped in, sat at the bar, and looked over the menu. There were so many things I wanted to order (bone in ribeye, 10oz burger w/caramelized truffle onions, oxtail & bone marrow). My mouth is watering just thinking about it...Anyway, since I already had my mind set on the chicken I ordered that. The bartender Alex recommended the Rich's table Cab and it was delicious! When the chicken arrived, the skin was crispy, the meat juicy, it was resting on a crispy bed of potatoes, and came with extra yummy chicken jus on the side...GOD DAMN, I said, GOD DAMN!!! I will definitely be back whenever I'm in town, I have many more dishes to work my way through. Thank you so much Taureaux...
