Oak Street Beach is undoubtedly one of the most stunning attractions in the vibrant city of Chicago. Nestled along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, this picturesque beach offers visitors a perfect escape from the bustling urban environment. With its soft, golden sands and breathtaking views, it serves as an ideal location to relax and unwind for a while, whether you choose to bask in the sun, read a book, or enjoy a leisurely stroll along the water’s edge.
One of the standout features of Oak Street Beach is its remarkable cleanliness, making it a welcoming destination for both locals and tourists alike. Families, friends, and solo travelers can all appreciate the well-maintained surroundings that enhance the overall beach experience.
While I personally didn’t come across any restroom facilities during my visit, it’s always a good idea to check for signs or inquire with those who work in the area for the most accurate information. Regardless, the beach is conveniently located near various cafes and charming spots where you can grab a coffee or a quick bite to eat. This proximity to cafes adds to the beach's appeal, allowing you to fully enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, sip on your favorite beverage, and soak in the sun.

Read moreOak street is that perfect sliver of beach between North Ave beach & Ohio Street Beach. Right in the middle of it all near the Gold Coast but does not get shady as quickly as Ohio beach. We went on the 4th of July and although it was on a Tuesday it was still packed. This is to be expected on any given holiday or weekend when it is beautiful in Chicago though. The views are of the lake, the boats in the playpen and the Chicago skyline up close, so it is stunning to say the least. Also this beach has a pop up massage booth and the beach bar Whispers as well as a hotdog stand. Everything you might need for a good beach day. Heads up, on busy days, they do have checkpoints to not bring alcohol to the beach. Glass is NEVER allowed in a beach and please don’t litter! Let’s keep our beaches clean, they have trash & recycling bins EVERYWHERE, so it...
Read moreI found this beach online as one of the more relaxing spots in Chicago, and it definitely lived up to the hype! When I visited, it was peaceful with hardly anyone around—close to the city yet it felt like a real escape. It was so refreshing to step away from the noise and just enjoy the calming sound of the waves and laid-back beach vibes. The beach itself is well-maintained and sits right on Lake Michigan. It’s also super convenient, within walking distance of many hotels, shopping, and other attractions in the area. They offer chair and umbrella rentals, and I noticed lifeguards on duty too, which makes it even better. A quiet, clean, and relaxing gem...
