I want to start by saying the food was actually pretty tasty, it was the service which is why i'm making this review.
The entire front end staff last night was either incredibly high or drunk.
It took the server 3 attempts to get a whiskey and Coke brought to the table for me. When it was finally delivered, he got my drink mixed up with somebody else's and I had to switch with that person. One server was tripping over himself all night, and I mean literally tripping over nothing. Like he couldn't keep his own balance. Another server came from the back and maybe she noticed, maybe she didn't care, but definitely struck me on shoulder and across my back with somebody else's order and kept moving forward, like she did nothing.
Actions like this persisted throughout the night.
What is really making me make sure that this post is for all to see, just before we ordered our food, our waiter put his ordering device incredibly close to my phone, forcing it (without my consent) to use my credit card to put a hold for the meal. I have attempted to reach out on all platforms to get some sort of resolution to this, only to find out that I cannot speak to somebody directly and will now have to use a charge back with my bank after the transaction has been settled.
Will recommend to go here to get food and to go somewhere else.
I will not recommend any other service, including bar service, from this establishment.
Additionally, their prices are highway robbery. $21 for a shot of whiskey, well whiskey mind you. Our waiter tried telling me that I was ordering doubles. A 3.5% restaurant surcharge and a service surcharge of 20% without being notified beforehand.
Reading the receipt, it states that we had a guest count of six when there was only five of us. Not sure, if that means anything, but that may explain the $60 service charge. Furthermore, many of the items on the receipt do not match what was ordered.
Edit: We ordered a round of green tea shots. I don't know if this establishment has ever made a green tea shot, but they clearly don't know what one...
Read moreToday I had Bodega Taqueria y Tequila @ River North. I ordered a Pescado (grilled fish) taco. While the fish itself was quite flavorful, I don’t think the other ingredients (pickled purple cabbage) did the fish a favor, giving it a strong vinegar flavor. 3.1/5. I also had the crispy fish taco, which was a bit better in overall flavor profile and the cabbage paired better. I enjoyed the crunchy texture and overall freshness. 3.5/5. I also ordered a camerón al coco (coconut shrimp) taco, which was the star of the show. Coconut shrimp paired with avocado and mango pico really elevated the flavor profile for me. 4.2/5. Coming in at 6$+ per taco, I was left with a desire for more (but also, this is downtown Chicago). Aside from the dark room with red lighting, the ambiance was enjoyable. The service is what kept this place out of the 4 star range for me. Every taco that came to our table was a guessing game for the waitress, who was also the bartender, who was also the busser. Felt like a one-woman show. Overall, if the service could get sorted (could have just been a one-time thing), I can see this being a great place for...
