El Greco's Burritos — Restaurant in Chicago

We really wanted to love this place in our search for a non-chain burrito joint. Unfortunately, the food was not good. Our burrito was cold - I think they must have taken the lettuce or other ingredients out from a fridge? I've never had an ice cold burrito before. We ordered a vegetarian burrito and there were no vegetables placed on it besides the base of lettuce and pico de gallo. No bell peppers or strips of onions! We also got a veggie burrito bowl, same story - it had no additional vegetables. That is a shame because you pay the same price as chicken, steak, al pastor with the expensive ingredient (meat) taken out, and nothing else put back in to fill your belly. Just makes for a skimpy and pricey meal. They also advertise that they include guac with the veggie option, and they did not. They should 1. Add mixed vegetables (bell pepper, zucchini, corn, mushrooms, options are endless) 2. Make the veggie option cheaper if you aren't going to sub the meat for anything 3. Grill the burrito if your ingredients are ice cold 4. Don't advertise guac with the veggie if it's not included. This restaurant offers take out, delivery catering and dine in, therefore they should have rest rooms available for paying customers. We were dining in and we asked if our 5 year old son can use their restroom with my husband and they said that their female employee will bring my son to the restroom instead of my husband???? And my husband asked if i can bring my son instead, they were not so happy about it but they let us in. Also we ordered burrito bowls and my son needed a spoon to eat his rice, we asked for just 1 spoon and they said to wait for a little bit and we are almost done and they still havent given us the spoon. I overhead them saying they dont have spoons, but the fact that no one bothered to tell us is very disappointing. I haven eaten burrito bowls before, and this maybe be a different one but something was off; the food/meat tasted sour with no sour cream.

If I could give zero stars I would. The entire staff looked at us with deathly eyes upon us walking in. I had to go back to double check the closing time at the door to ensure we weren't coming in close to closing time. There were still 5 hours before closing.

Staff was very awkward and we almost felt as if we were inconveniencing them.

Tacos were OK - had to ask for limes, salt, and napkins. Burrito was bad with large pieces of meat and the rice was very stale- seemed like a couple days old and they decided to go with it. I didn't dare ask for salsa based on the awkwardness of the stares from the staff. My husband got the horchata which tasted like you were drinking melted flan from the color and how sweet it was.

Place was pretty clean and well kept, but it was inconvenient they don't have a bathroom for people to at least wash their hands before eating.
