I’ve been coming to this spot for over 12 years and it’s kind of a part of my childhood. I was obsessed with this place. To me they had the best wings in the city, hands down. I decided to take my boyfriend here because he had never been and wanted to do the XXXX challenge. He loved his food and won the shirt. As far as the boneless wings? Absolutely not. I always ordered the boneless wings, which used to be made with this juicy white breast meat, amazing quality. Well, I was eating my food and was shocked at why it was tasking to weird and some of the pieces were pink and chewy tasting. I asked our server, Greg, (who was cool) told me they switched to dark meat 6 months ago and I was shocked at how terrible it was. I couldn’t even eat my wings and left them there on the plate. Money down the drain. The meat was stringy and greasy, and the flavor just wasn’t the same. I couldn’t even finish my food.
Meanwhile, my boyfriend got the bone-in wings XXXX wings, and he was happy. I was shocked that the wings didn’t come with the cold plate like they used to. But at least he enjoyed his meal while I sat there mad as hell. I paid $53 for a meal where only half the table was satisfied. Honestly, I would’ve been totally fine paying more if it meant getting the original quality meat back. Like they were just THAT good back in the day.
I usually don’t even write reviews like this but I left still craving wings that don’t taste like disappointment. I am 100% willing to pay more for the original boneless meat but I get it, maybe it wasn’t in the budget but wow.
I would say don’t get...
Read moreBack in Chicago... last time we visited we came here and I didn't post, but this time I won't forget.
Let's start here APRIL, one of the best servers I've had in quite sometime. This time there were only three of us and we just got in from a train ride from St. Louis. APRIL did an amazing job, welcoming us, she was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. She made sure we stayed comfortable and in need of nothing. She invited to stay and relax till we could check into our hotel (about 30 minutes) Great job and I hope you hear about this review. :)
Ok... food... THE PRETZEL, you must see the picture in comparison to my 13 year old daughter's hand. It is $19 and comes with house queso, pimento cheese, and spicy brown mustard. APRIL suggested using the left overs as a bun, great idea... we made pulled pork 🥪 with them.
I had the pulled pork platter, DIDNT COME ACROSS ANY FAT, I bold that bc I love pulled pork and am so often disappointed. Coleslaw was kinda dry, but I built a sandwich with my pork and texas toast.
My daughter had grilled cheese and tomato soup. She thought the grilled cheese was good, but felt it was small ( on texas toast, we think she's trippin ) She liked the tomato soup better dipping the sandwich in it, but who knows I didn't taste it.
Daddio had the 4 wing special poncho flavor? He wasn't pleased and thought there was lack of taste. APRIL advised him to squeeze lemon onto them to open up the flavor... he did NOT.
So based off of MY food and experience it was GREAT!! We will be back when we...
Read moreDined here before Covid and we loved the wings so we decided to go on a Saturday night. Arrived about 630pm and was told there would be a 40 min wait. We decided to stay but they have no where to wait except in the doorway.
After about 20 minutes our table was ready. They must have staffing issues since there were many empty tables .
They have a nice beer and cocktail list
We ordered the fried cheese curds..buffalo fried shrimp and a wing combo. They are advertised as one of the top wing spots in the US.
The cheese curds came with ranch sauce but were small and some had no cheese at all.
The Buffalo Shrimp looked like the same frozen ones you buy in a grocery store. They just poured buffalo sauce over them which made them soggy and mushy. They also came with ranch sauce.
You pay extra (3.00) for a wing combo which gives you 2 sauces. Wings were small and in my opinion over cooked. We tried The Firecracker sauce which was Sweet Thai Chili and Sriracha. Nothing to brag about. Their January special was Thai Peanut Sauce with Raspberry Chipotle Jelly. Surprised that the jelly came in a separate plastic cup for dipping. Again nothing to brag about.
For the price,I feel there are better wing places in Chicago and the reason for...
