I formerly knew this so-called Byrne Plaza Park as Water Tower Park. And I rather fancy it being referred to as such, for reasons that should be obvious to any local. That is, Water Tower Park is both a description and a name—exactly as most things should be. For instance, if McDonald’s were referred to as “overpriced food of the sickly,” it would be an admirable name to adopt, even if it wouldn’t exactly behoove corporate leadership to embrace it. Imagine something formally titled the Chromatic Eyesore, or the Obese Oblong. That might be descriptive, and you’d say that’s well and good, but it’s nothing compared to the name “The Bean,” which is descriptive just the way I like it—even if the sculpture itself is polished rubbish for the city’s true blight: tourists. Five stars for this and that and Stars and Stripes for all!

This was formally known as 'Water Tower Park' but was rededicated in 2014 to remember Chicago's first and only female Mayor; Jane Byrne and so it's now called the 'Jane Byrne Plaza'. This took some time to even convince Google of the name change, after multiple correction attempts along with supporting evidence only to come back as denied it was finally changed to the correct name. Fun Fact: with how historic this building and plaza is to Chicago's history, it is not owned by the city of Chicago but rather 'private investors.'* Yet ironically named after a Chicago city mayor...Welcome to Chicago folks. **Source: Chicago Parks Dept

Lovely retreat from the busyness of the loop. Small park, perhaps one block in size and part of it consumed by an old building. While on Michigan ave, it is a peaceful place for a quick stroll. Beautiful flowers sit among well-manicured plants. It gets crowded easily, though most are just passing through. If in the area, take a few moments to slow down and enjoy this lovely...
