Kelly's Pub — Restaurant in Chicago

I had the pleasure of meeting Kelly just a few moments ago as he tried to return product to my business. He is very friendly and passionate man but when he found out that he needed a receipt to return something, he went off. He couldn't even stop insulting me to realize that I could look up the receipt if I could find out what date he came in. No big deal. But I got an earful about how it's pathetic that I'm not giving him $7 back and business really must be bad if I care that much about $7. It's not the money, it's the policy I explained. I have to watch out for my job, that is why there is procedure. He then proceeded to call me a F-in' "Jew" even though I'm a quarter Mexican. Maybe he thought my dark hair and dark skin is Jewish but I didn't realize profiling was part of a bar owner's duties.

Kelly's Pub might be a nice establishment, Kelly was certainly friendly at the beginning of our conversation but he soon showed his real colors. I will not be stepping into his bar or recommending it to the customers that shop here. There are many bars and restaurants that need our support during this down economy and Kelly's should NOT be one. I hope you read this and agree that we need a lot less bigots and irrational hatred in this world.

It was an awful experience when I came here. The white bald larger bartender was super rude and hostile. When me and my friend came in and sat down I asked the him for some water he just walked past me and told me "no we don't give out water here". In my head I was like what did he just say?. I asked him again and he just completely ignored me and walk straight past me.

Then when I asked him for a third time since he just walked straight past me I ask "excuse me can I get some water" and he replied with "Yeah as soon as I'm done serving everyone else and you pay". This was a hostile aggressive remark. I knew he was just trying to start a confrontation with me because I have been plenty of bars and asked for water and have NEVER been asked to pay for that. That's why when he made that comment I knew it was time to leave.

What makes it even worse is that then when I told my friend lets leave as we left together I looked back inside the bar and the bartender was still staring at me. Then he literally waved his hand out goodbye to me as we were looking back at each other when I left.

Going to this bar was the worst experience ever. My friends and I were the only POCs there and the bald bartender completely disregarded us the entire night. He gave us dirty looks, rolled his eyes, and sometimes completely ignored us. But as the night went on, we left for about 7 minutes and came back. This morning I checked my bank account and realized my card was swiped two times on two different amounts. one being $159 & one being $190. When I called, the same bartender answered and showed no remorse or help. He told me that I “won’t be able to have a better weekend now”. He blamed my bank and the POS system which is ridiculous. When I called my bank they told me these two transactions were 10 minutes apart. After finally realizing that they closed my tab when i left, they reopened it when we went back in after being gone for 7 minutes. I don’t understand why I was charged $159 worth of alcohol twice.
