The food was so delicious we came back twice during our short visit to Chicago! My son ordered the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which in his words was, “creamy, perfect, flavorful and nicely portioned.” He ordered this dish both times. First visit I tried the Spaghetti and Meatballs and wow, the tomato sauce was the perfect balance of sweet and savory, you can tell it was made fresh. My second experience I ordered the NY Strip with a Mushroom Sauce and Garlic Potatoes with Grilled Asparagus. Having had pasta multiple times in this trip I was happy to change it up and was so impressed by the flavor and tenderness of the steak. Too bad we are a plane flight away, we would be here all the time! The service was also a main highlight, both servers and management on each shift were welcoming and personal, it’s a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy an incredible meal and feel appreciated as a guest. Thank you!

⭐ 1 out of 5 stars Not the Italian experience we expected We were really disappointed with our dinner at La Bella Trattoria. There were fruit flies everywhere—on the food, in our wine—it was honestly hard to enjoy anything. The atmosphere felt chaotic and loud, with club music blasting instead of anything remotely Italian. Our main course came out almost immediately after the first, and there wasn’t even space on the table. It felt rushed from start to finish, and having three different servers made it confusing and impersonal. The restaurant is attached to a hotel, so people are constantly walking in and out, which makes it feel more like a lobby cafĂ© than a trattoria. To top it off, they were out of the red wine we ordered and pushed us into another bottle that was about 50% more expensive. Between the flies, the noise, and the lack of authentic atmosphere, this was a complete miss for us.

This is located inside the kimpton hotel which is extremely nice. The atmosphere is old meets new Italian and I had high hopes. I went for happy hour on a Tuesday and it wasnt crowded initially. A few work groups came in. The bartender was friendly but not overly so. Tried their new pumpkin martini. I didn't like it. I thought it may have been creamy but it was just a bunch of fall spices steeped in vodka. Ordered a Margherita flatbread was was ok, not spectacular. Not very flat either. A new bartender came in to train and the bartender forgot all about servicing the patrons. Its hard to do both, but its to be expected . I had asked for parmesean and thought about getting another drink, but when he totally forgot about me, I just asked for the check and left. Maybe it just wasnt a good day to go

@Luther I’m truly sorry to hear that you felt your experience with us was unsatisfactory. I want to offer some clarification regarding the situation. You dined with us for an extended period of time, and it appeared that you had become intoxicated while engaging with other guests who were in the middle of a business dinner. My intention in approaching you was si ensure that all our patrons could enjoy their meals comfortably.

You mentioned that you were attempting to recruit them, but it was clear that the guests were uncomfortable with the interaction. Please understand that my actions were based solely on maintaining a pleasant dining environment for everyone.

I sincerely apologize if my approach came across as unprofessional; that was never my intent. Having worked in the restaurant industry for over 30 years, I take great pride in providing respectful and courteous service to all our guests.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We appreciate your...

I enjoy looking for new places for a steak sandwich whenever I’m downtown. At $25 I was expecting the typical downtown tax on an average sandwich. What I instead received was an exceptionally crafted sandwich prepared by a chef far too over-qualified to be making my perfect medium-rare steak sandwich. The quiet and dim-lit atmosphere betrayed the depth and sophistication lurking in the kitchen and by the time I had finished eating I had felt as though I had made the comparable request of the chef as having Michelangelo paint me a single dandelion. The product far surpassed my expectations and left me wondering what other treasures lurk in the kitchen waiting to be revealed. I cannot comment on it’s day-to-day popularity or occupancy, but for a Saturday night it felt nearly criminal to walk in to immediate seating availability which was all the best for me as it made it feel like an under appreciated stop for great food downtown. Can’t...
