As many poor reviews start: If I could give it 0 stars I would...
You can see from my profile I do not often give bad reviews. They are very few and far between, but Napolita stands out as an establishment with some of the worst service I have ever received at an eatery.
Many reviews follow a similar trope of: I was right and the server was wrong. It becomes a row of circumstantial hearsay of my word against theirs.
Having state this, I want to present my situation clearly: I asked if a dish was dairy free, I ordered that dish and the server mentioned the portion was small so I gladly ordered a salad. I ordered the Giardino salad which clearly lists it's ingredients and explicitly does not mention any shaved parmesan or other cheeses. I was brought the wrong salad. A completely different salad covered in cheese. When I mentioned that I wasn't sure it was correct I was disparaged for not reading the menu. I had read the menu carefully, even pointing to my preferred item. I knew what the dish's ingredients were, and the server must have been mistaken. I offered to eat the salad, but she took it back laced in a scorn and distain that projected that I was the one who made the mistake.
She returned with the correct salad, however covered in cheese. I am not one to send back food, but I paused when she brought me this salad. She callously barked, "What's wrong with this one?" At this point my friends at the table joined in a chorus of, "The cheese!" Again I apologized and offered to just eat it. And again I was met with contempt and dismissal as she proceeded to flippantly take away this bowl. Finally the correct salad came, as it is described on the menu.
The restaurant was also empty, so it was not as if they were crowded or too busy, overworked or anything of the like. I can only attribute this behavior to a general bad attitude.
The unfortunate thing is, that the food was really good. It truly was just one server. Those that bussed the table were pleasant, smiley and thankful.
Moreover, I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant. I would not recommend anyone patronize this establishment. If you want pizza Pizano's is right down the street, it's an...
Read moreI surprised my girlfriend with tickets to Napolita Pizzeria’s Cooking Class for date night and just my luck, the day I booked ended up being a wet dreary one. I was worried she was going to want to pick a movie, bake some cookies and call it a night. However, when I explained we had tickets to make pizza’s together while watching passersby ice skate in front of the Chicago Bean you chug a coffee, turn off the tele, and get going! The class itself was mid-sized, there was about 25-30 of us and we were all able to spread apart and have our privacy. You get two drinks each, and they let you choose any on their menu. The head chef is funny and charismatic. The process itself was easy…for most of us anyways. If you’re daring enough to toss your dough in the air like a professional you won’t get dirty because they give you a slick white apron. And if you’re helpless like me, they don’t charge you extra when you ruin your first dough and have to restart. It’s worth the effortless elbow grease because in my humble opinion the pizza taste a little better when that grease is yours. The toppings were limited but the ones you do get to choose from are elite and are only enhanced when you top it off with complimentary basil and Chili oil. Make it a date night you...
Read moreAnother Date night. We came to make our own pizza, a ticketed event that was purchased on event Brite. I'm not quite sure of the price since my fiance purchased it. However, it does come with two individual pizzas, and they teach you how to make. It also included unlimited beer and wine. Nice selection of ingredients, oh secret ask for spinach they will bring a bowl. Pay attention to parking underground. look for the purple columns. Take the elevator up to ground level, and the restaurant is literally to your left when you walk outside. They stated the ice rink is the largest beer garden in the city in the summer. Highly recommend, pizza was great and took...
