I went here to celebrate my birthday Sept 11th, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We arrived right at opening (4:30pm) when the restaurant was empty, yet it still took about 10 minutes before our server even greeted us. Once we ordered drinks, it was another 10 minutes before we got them—even though I could see them just sitting at the bar while no one made the effort to bring them over. We kept having to ask other workers for our servers attention because she was no where to be found on multiple occasions. It was a hassle to get more dressing for a salad we ordered.. and more water..
The food itself was pretty good, but the service was far from what I expected, especially for a special occasion. For my birthday, the only acknowledgment I received was a menu that said “Happy Birthday.” Meanwhile, I noticed other tables being offered complimentary champagne for their celebrations, which made me and my fiancé feel overlooked and undervalued.
Considering we spent nearly $300 for a birthday dinner, I left feeling under-appreciated and completely disappointed. Good-ok food, but the service and hospitality simply did not match the price point or...
Read moreThis place may be new (only open for 7 weeks!), but it’s already a standout. The charm hits you right away as you walk under the flowered canopy, past the cute outdoor seating, and into the warm, stylish interior.
Our server, Gavin, was phenomenal—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. Total 5-star service.
I started with a cocktail called New York’s Hottest Club. It was smooth and balanced—the mezcal didn’t overpower, which I appreciated.
Appetizer? The Double-Cut Bacon. I mean, come on—who passes up bacon? It was thick, full of flavor, and cooked just right.
For my main, I went with the Black Angus Filet (Oscar style), creamed spinach, and whipped potatoes. Everything was delicious, and the steak was cooked perfectly—which should be a given at a steakhouse, but shockingly, isn’t always!
And yes, I saved room for dessert—the Sticky Toffee Bread Pudding was the real star of the night. It came out piping hot, with vanilla ice cream melting beautifully over the top. Absolute perfection.
My only gripe? It wasn’t Wednesday, so I missed out on the short ribs and polenta special. Guess that means I’ll just have...
Read moreI had a lovely, 5 star experience at Sophia last Saturday and I wanted to take the time to relay that. The service was top tier. The 3 ladies at the host stand immediately greeted & were so warm and welcoming. Great people to have at the front of your house. I killed a little time at the bar with Gabriel who was also very welcoming, funny and friendly. Master at his craft with the cocktails! I was sat at a great booth in George’s section. George was kind, helpful and very attentive. Even when his section got busy he made the appropriate amount of check-ins. Also, shout out to all the busboys/busgirls. Their attention to detail was spot on and they were all also very friendly. Now the food…amazing. Both cuts of steak that were ordered were cooked to perfection and the flavor was superb. The steak sauce on the side wasn’t needed. Appetizers were delicious and so was our side of the white cheddar potatoes gratin. The food selection is impressive and I’m already looking forward to going back to explore the rest of the menu! Thank you for a wonderful experience and I’m excited to recommend this restaurant to all my clients...
