My partner was super excited when we found out this restaurant was opening a new location in our neighborhood because he’s a huge burger guy. We visited the first time for drinks the first day that the restaurant opened and the staff was extremely friendly and the drinks were great. We visited at a different time to grab food and drinks a few days later and both of us agreed that the burgers were underwhelming. My partner’s burger way too small, and mine with a good amount of toppings, but not as great as we were both anticipating. The cheese curds were disappointing as well, but not because they weren’t well made, but because they use the wrong type of cheese for their cheese curds. Cheese curds are made of cheddar cheese, white and/or yellow, NOT mozzarella cheese. If I wanted mozzarella cheese I’d be going after mozzarella sticks, not cheese curds. Mozzarella is flavorless unless season properly or dipped in a more flavorful sauce. They were so very cheesy, but unfortunately not the type of cheese that I was expecting. I hope the owner is receptive to feedback and improvements are done to their recipe and ingredients. The service is a 15 out of 10, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come to Bad Apple for their food when we have so many better quality food available in...
Read moreAs soon as I heard that they opened up a location closer to me I knew I had to go. Pretty massive restaurant with a peaceful outdoor patio in between the adjacent building.
I ended up ordering the Elvis’s Last Supper again but with sweet potato fries this time. This time the burger was well seasoned which improved the taste a lot. The bacon (something I wouldn’t get again solely based on my preferences) was crispy while the semi-crispy plantains added another layer of texture. The best part yet again was the peanut butter. This is arguably the best peanut butter I’ve ever had and it’s homemade! Some may argue there is too much, but as a pb lover there’s no such thing. Lastly, the sweet potato fries weren’t anything special but that’s good enough for me. They had a nice crisp but could have used a tad more salt. Was very tempted to get the mile high ice cream pie, but opted to get it in the future.
If you want American food, but want something different, this is the place to go. So many crazy burger options as well as a good variety of appetizers. I’m so glad this place opened up so that whenever I crave a unique burger, I have a...
Read moreI visited The Bad Apple during my trip to Chicago, and it was a very pleasant experience from start to finish. This historic spot has a great atmosphere, lively but relaxed, making it the perfect place to enjoy a great meal and drinks.
We sat by the bar, where the service was incredibly kind and welcoming. Even as a first-time visitor, I felt like I had picked the right place. The food was excellent, the fish and chips were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and the cheese curds were warm, melty, and addictive. The real standout for me was the Diavalo flatbread, just the right amount of crunch, rich and cheesy with a bold spicy kick, all balanced by a drizzle of honey that made every bite even better.
The drinks were just as impressive. Their Old Fashioned combos are fantastic, offering unique twists on a classic. I tried one with Mescal!
Everything about The Bad Apple made for a great evening, the food, the drinks, the friendly service, and the welcoming vibe. I definitely...
