Ate here a week ago and can't recommend it enough. Great family-owned joint with friendly people who love food and know what to do with it. If you are gluten intolerant I am sorry for you, but if you love gluten and can safely eat it, prepare yourself for the most delicious serving of carbs in your life. EVERYTHING is delicious. The cocktails were creative and wonderful. The Greek salad came with oil cured olives. The dough in their pizza crusts/cheese sticks is fantastic, and the cheese sticks came with an excellently flavorful marinara dipping sauce. I ordered penne pasta with rose sauce, and both the sauce and the bread that came with my pasta were very nearly a religious experience. The supreme pizza had fresh homemade sausage on it. ...Now, everybody talks about Mom's Queen Elizabeth cake, and for good reason. I had never heard of this cake, but it is an English dessert made with dates, nuts, brown sugar, butter, and broiled coconut. It's not too much different from a sticky toffee pudding, and it comes out warm and moist and sticky. Our bartender made a couple of pairing suggestions, and the Speyside-region whisky we ordered (low on peat, strong on fruit, honey, and spice) went incredibly well with the cake; it was truly a blissful experience. Definitely order your cake at the beginning of your meal so they don't run out, and save room for it!
I spent the entire meal making an it's-so-good-it-hurts face. Service and atmosphere were great, but if I could rate the food higher than five...
Read moreOMG where do I start about the beautiful gem of a place on the island. My daughter and I arrived to the island later in the day checked into the hotel and begin to look for somewhere to eat. When she said pizza I had my reservation but it was her birthday trip so I went along with it. When we arrived to the location it was small however very pleasant warming and welcoming. We had a very short wait before we were seated and we were there on a Friday night around 7 pm. So we get the menus looking around it looks like a lot of love and history in the place you can see everything from the food being cooked to the drinks being served. It’s like they are all family and they treat you as such the head of the establishment everyone calls her ma I thought that was so sweet she checked on us repeatedly to make sure everything was great. Now to the food I grew up on the east coast CT to be exact with countless trips to New York and been residing in Texas for about 10 years and when I say this food was so delicious I mean literally nothing wasn’t up to par we ordered a few things so we can try a variety and all of it was so pleasing I will never judge a book by its cover again I absolutely see why the ratings and reviews were so high it’s truly deserved. I’ve been thinking of the food since I returned home I absolutely recommend this place and thinking about making another trip just to come back to this restaurant. I absolutely recommend 10/10. Read moreAlfio's was a fantastic dinner. Their restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere. Even the smell was homey and welcoming, like the walls themselves had baked in deliciousness. We ordered 2 pizzas which were both excellent. The shrimp and cheese was my favorite of the two, though both were great. The crust had a great texture and flavor. The sauce was delicious and full flavored but not overpowering. It was very well seasoned and delicious!. Our cocktails from the bar were also excellent. The bartender took his time and you could tell he has pride in his work. The glassware and bottles all shined to perfection. We finished off with the Queen Elizabeth desert. It was very well balanced, not an overly sweet sugar rich desert but a delicious well flavored treat topped in a rich creamy sauce that is light to the taste with just the right amount of warm coconut. I was impressed by the cleanliness, care and obvious love put into every aspect of our simple meal. I would highly recommend this stop to anyone on St Croix! Thank you all at Alfio's for a very wonderful and...
