We did the half day of snorkeling at Buck Island on a Thursday at the end of February. If you're visiting St. Croix, it would be a tragedy to miss going out on one of these excursions, because the scenic boat ride alone is worth it. We were lucky enough to be booked on the catamaran "Celebration" with the Best Crew Ever- Nate, Hayley, and Captain Allie. They were professional & informative, yet friendly and outgoing so that everyone on board felt at ease. We were all laughing and having a blast before we even left the dock. I love that we shored up to a sandy beach first before going to the reef on the other side of the island. This gave the people who needed a snorkeling lesson (like me) time to practice while we could still stand in the water, and other people were free to walk the beach & explore. We saw pelicans diving for fish, and even a couple Rays swim by right next to the shore. On the way to the reef, we stopped to watch some dolphins swimming & playing around the boat, which was an awesome bonus! At the reef, there were several other tour boats moored up, and lots of people snorkeling. I thought it might make it a little crowded or awkward, but it was not due to the expertise of our guides. We got to snorkel with our guide Hayley, who helped us get through parts of the underwater trail, and even took us to the "grotto" on the outer side of the reef. There were so many beautiful fish, but the highlight was seeing a spotted Ray, which we promptly nicknamed "the butterfly of the sea"

From the moment we boarded the boat, it was clear that safety was their top priority. The crew took the time to ensure that everyone was equipped with the proper gear and understood the safety protocols before we set off. Their attention to detail and emphasis on making sure everyone felt comfortable in the water gave me peace of mind, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the experience.
What truly set this trip apart, however, was Easton and Key's extensive knowledge of the island's history. As we cruised to Buck Island, they shared fascinating stories about the island's ecological significance and cultural heritage. Their passion for the environment and its preservation was evident, and it added a rich layer of context to our snorkeling adventure. I found myself captivated not just by the underwater beauty but also by the history and stories that brought the landscape to life.
Once we arrived at Buck Island, we were greeted by crystal-clear waters teeming with vibrant marine life. The snorkeling spots were carefully chosen to showcase the best of what the reef has to offer. Swimming alongside colorful fish, sea turtles, and vibrant corals left me in awe of nature’s beauty. The crew was always nearby, offering tips and guidance to enhance our snorkeling experience, ensuring that everyone could fully enjoy the underwater wonders.
Overall, my trip with Easton and Key was an incredible experience that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Saint Croix. Their commitment to safety, combined with their passion for sharing the island's history and ecology, made for a truly enriching adventure. Whether you’re a seasoned snorkeler or a beginner, this trip is a must-do. I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable day...
Read moreFamily and I came to Saint Croix for a little over a week and this was our first adventure that we planned. We did the all day cruise to Buck Island and Turtle Bay and we are so glad that we did. First of all everything was smooth and seamless from the check-in to actually loading on the catamaran. The trip was so worth it, and I would highly recommend going with this group. The trip was great, the boat was great, snorkeling and information given was fantastic, but what really made our trip as good as it was, was the captain, Peter and his wife, Jill that were running the boat. They were both awesome people and very good at what they do. They both have lived here for a very long time so it was helpful having them be able to share with us information on the history of the island, and also on Buck Island, as far as the conservation efforts and scientific research that is being done out there. It was super fascinating. More than that they were just awesome people to hang out with. I think we have used more of Jill‘s advice that she gave to us, more than any other resource we’ve looked at to plan our days. Everything about our experience was top notch, and the fact that Peter had some Stick Figure and Rebelution on his playlist is absolutely a win for me and my family!!
It was my wife, my two daughters 19 and 17 and myself, and we all had an absolute blast. It’s a perfect way to start our trip to Saint Croix and get acclimated to the sights and sounds of this beautiful place. The rum punch is awesome on the drive back, but we were not aware you were allowed to bring your own alcohol on the trip so all we brought was snacks. Not a dealbreaker, but we wish we would’ve known we could pack our own alcohol for the trip just a little pro trip when you plan your excursion!!! Ask for Peter and Jill you will not be disappointed!!! Hit up Shupes after you are done decent little spot to get a drink and some...
