Order: Shrimp Alfredo Pizza, Cheesy Bread - (Sort of) Positives: Good pizza and the seafood was really good Negatives: Seems like they can run out of stuff and when their busy it might get chaotic, you’ll also need to like a “bar scene” tldr: The Mill seems like a great place to grab some brick oven pizza, but that’s assuming they have what you want and that you’re ok with basically being in/next to a bar.
Thoughts: It was our first night in St. Croix and we had gotten in much later than anticipated due to airline delays. We were pretty hungry but had already realized that a lot of places are either closed on Sundays or simply close early.

We were pretty hungry but had already realized that a lot of places are either closed on our days or close early. However the mill pizza was on our list of places to try and was still open so we headed there. We were looking for a “normal” restaurant so we actually walked past the Mill twice because it’s really more like an open air bar that has a pizza oven attached to it. This isn’t necessarily bad but it immediately set me on edge because I don’t really like bars and I have never really liked bar food.
Regardless we sat down and took a look at our menu, decided what to order and then found out something that would be a recurring theme during our trip in St. Croix. Everybody is out of something. It’s honestly not bad, it just takes some getting used to. By our fourth restaurant visit in St. Croix we had learned to sit down and start by asking what they were out of that day. It makes complete sense, so it’s not a negative, it’s just kind of funny and something to be aware of. In this case they were out of some of the sauce for the pizza, garlic, and a hot pepper. With the “adjusted menu” in mind we settled on a shrimp Alfredo pizza, with pesto sauce instead of Alfredo sauce, because they were out of Alfredo sauce, and garlic cheesy bread with no garlic because they were out of garlic. We ended up ordering to go because it was late and we were super tired. Turned out to be a great idea because somebody started throwing up next to the restaurant from being too drunk as we were walking out.
This place is definitely a bar that serves pizza.
To their credit the pizza was good. Was it amazing pizza? No but it was good, particularly the shrimp. It’s also a little bit hard to rate them because neither of the things I got were really on the menu and I wouldn’t have gotten them the way I did if they had all the ingredients. That being said Mill House is a good place to get pizza but if you don’t like bars and you don’t like bar-food and you don’t like bar seating I honestly wouldn’t recommend you go here…because it’s a bar. The flip-side of that is also very true. If you like bars and you want to drink a little, or a lot, while eating pizza the Mill House will probably be right up your alley. For us it was kind of a mess.
We also did try to go back another day and see if it was different but that time they were out of everything and had “sold out of pizza about an hour ago“ so...
Read moreWe recently visited The Mill for dinner. We were seated at a table on the boardwalk (outside of the closed in area of the restaurant itself) and this was not a great place to be. Though the view was nice, there were people right near us standing and smoking throughout our meal. The service was absolutely terrible. There were two waitresses that seemed to be waiting on us. After we placed our order (put in drinks, apps, and mains all at once), it was ~15 minutes before we even had drinks. They brought over 3 waters and couldn't remember what beer the 4th in our party had ordered and had to ask him again what he wanted. The apps were another 30-45 minutes after that and were not good (we had the truffled mozzarella - it was some small blobs of mozzarella, some nuts, a few slices of strawberries, and little containers of balsamic dressing and pesto - would not get again). An hour or so later, one of the waitresses came over with our pizzas... except they weren't our pizzas. We had ordered 2 green pies (3/4 of us are vegetarian) and they brought over two meat-covered pizzas. After we said they weren't ours and that we ordered two green pies, the first waitress who had taken our order came over and aggressively demanded to know if we were sure that we had ordered with her and that we hadn't ordered those pizzas. After some more aggressive confrontation, we waited another 30 minutes to get our actual pizzas. Our waters were never refilled during the meal. When we were done, I had to go in to the restaurant 3 times to ask for our check before we finally got it. They did take the beer and one of the pizzas off the bill but it was still a terrible experience and one that we would not repeat for the mediocre pizza we had. The green pies had barely any cheese and then mysteriously had a salad basically dumped on top - big lettuce leaves and very large tomato slides. We do...
Read moreThe pizza was good (brick oven baked) but the service was horrid. We were not allowed to be seated as a family of 5 at a table made for 4 due to covid restrictions. No problem for us, we were happy to wait. 40 minutes later...a man who ordered take out and decided to sit at a table for 6 and wait then decided to eat his pizza there. Also not a problem, his choice. I asked if it was possible to ask the man sitting alone if he would mind moving to a smaller table before he ate (there were 4 open but we couldn’t sit at any of them including on the boardwalk 8’ from another table) the waitress rolled her eyes and said no. Against my better judgment and husband, we waited an additional 15 minutes for a table to leave. We were seated in a courtyard at a picnic table. We ordered 3 pizzas and each of us had a drink. The 2 teens asked for a refill when the pizzas arrived and the waitress agreed with a look of disgust on her face. She never looked us in the eye and once we had our food that’s all we saw of her until the $100 check came. They added 20% gratuity for our party of 5. It’s listed on the menu that they “may” do that. Right next to “no takeout orders can be consumed in the restaurant.” It was an awful experience and it sucks for her because we always tip 30%+....
