6/16 Tue at 415pm I decided to order dinner to go for the whole family. Knowing I'd pay extra for tortillas and a 2littr I add them to the bill, along with the 2lbs of meat, a quart of each rice and beans. I thought this was a great alternative to any fast food around the area; its only 6blocks from my house. We sit down to eat at 4:30pm and the food is COLD, including the "warm" tortillas i paid extra for. Having worked the food industry for 11years I found this very upsetting. I place a call to them to inquire/inform them food left their restaurant cold. She then replies "Its still good, you just have to heat it up, the beans were just scooped out of a can, we close soon so we take the meat off the heat. But its still good. Just heat it up, if you would have sat here to eat we would make sure we served it hot " I thought, coming from a restaurant, that response was appalling; that is to say that they don't offer the same quality in service for take out that they do for dine in. [I wonder if its bc when you dine in you pay after you eat, and who would want to pay for cold food? (other than from a grocery story)] I told her that she should have informed us that the food would need to be warmed up. That I would have made a different choice for dinner as I DO NOT have a microwave. For compensation she offered "next time you come in, I will make sure your food is hot" I was astonished, shouldn't a restaurant make sure ALL FOOD IS HOT WHEN IT LEAVES THE DOOR?!?!?!?!?! They close at 6pm but apparently start shutting down before 4pm. I guess they want to make sure they are able to walk out at 6pm. Makes you wonder who they are making food for if they are out of there by six. Most people who go out for dinner start getting ready to go at 6pm to do dinner at a restaurant at 7 or 730. I now wonder if my carnitas were even made that day, or are these left overs from the weekend? My family and I stumbled across this cash only place while on our Saturday walk to scout the neighborhood. After a sample of some deliciously cooked carnitas we decide to dine in. The beans had a nice spice to them, the rice was flavorful, the horchatta was thin and sweet. We had such a great meal that it would have been nice to be able to regularly order dinner to go. Sincerely...
Read moreThis place is a rip off. I asked for 1 1/2 pounds and the guy sells me 2 1/2 pounds. I watched him for a while because I was fifth in line. And everyone was being sold double of what they asked for. All they do is just fill the carry out tray and weigh it and that is what you are getting. He would offer $3 of chicharron and sell the people $6 of chicharron. To top things off the carnitas were cold and had to reheat them and I only live 4 blocks away. I normally travel 20-30 minutes for carnitas and I decided to try Sabas for convenience but I won’t...
Read moreWeird exchange. First time wanting to try out this place. We walked in to dine-in but they just stared at us from the other end of the restaurant without greeting or saying anything. After a few minutes of just standing by the front entrance, we figured out that you need to walk up to the cash resgister. The whole place was uncomfortably hot and CASH ONLY. We didn't end up staying. I get friendlier hospitality from Dunkin than this place. Ended doing to the Tamales...
