Scatchell's Beef & Pizza — Restaurant in Cicero

The worst experiences I have ever had here I use to love coming here cause my kids enjoyed there pizza and cheese fries but lately there quality in food and customer service has plummeted greatly Today I decided to get a pizza and cheese fries for my family in memory of my son that passed cause this was his favorite place but when I got home with the food it was a great disappointment I ordered a large pepperoni pizza with extra cheese like we always got but when I opened the box there was no extra cheese just a regular pizza which upset me due to the almost 4 dollars extra they charged me for the so called extra cheese and on top of that the cheese fries where just disgusting the fries where not fresh they where full of oil and the cheese they put on it well let's just say not the best just imagine oily cheese now I don't have a problem paying the almost $20 for two things I ordered but I would like the quality of food to go hand and hand if that's what you are charging for your food so I called them back to inform them of the ordeal of the situation of the food to just get rudely tongue lashed by the associates over the phone which seemed that they where calling me a liar to then get put on hold and have a I think manager or I believe the owner called Greg come on the phone also with a chip on his shoulder also seemingly trying to insinuate that I was lying after I explained it to him as I did with the other employee he goes to tell me that just the next time I order that he won't charge me for the extra cheese but I doubt I'll be getting anything from them in a while until they can get situated in customer service and food service I can't believe this is what I had to go through just to get some food in memory of my son who loved it when...

No frills, no doubt Scatchell's lives up to its motto. I've been dreaming of coming to this place ever since I was a kid and we used to do our laundry nearby. Now I understand why my mom always refused to take us here and instead went to Burger King, Subway or Dairy Queen. For such a prounounced, decorative sign, I mean they do they everything to draw you in...this place is so par for the course its disappointing.

I waltzed in and clumsily missed all the "CASH ONLY" signs and ordered 2 slices of pepperoni/sausage pizza. After realizing it I walked over to the ATM ($3 overcharge here we come!) It was about $8 for 2 slices + $6 ($3 atm charge + another $3 because of PNC's bogus double charges when it comes to a non-PNC atm) so I paid $14 for 2 slices of pizza...oh boy.

When he handed me the slices I noticed the pizza felt rather light, and I immediately felt like disappointed, as if I was just bent over a pinball machine. I've dreamed of this moment though, this trip has to be worth something! My dreams were shattered as I walked to the train station and ate. Everything had this weird tinge to it, especially the sauce. Its as if they tried to make traditional Italian "Margherita" pizza with all the fresh ingredients, but stopped halfway through and decided to do regular Chicago style. It's just off putting.

Perhaps one day I'll try the other items on their menu like the Italian Beef, but for sure the pizza is...

7/27/23: Hate that I have to do it, but this is RIDICULOUS and needs to be shared! CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS PEOPLE! I know we so frequently just swipe or pay and don’t check it. My dad went to lunch at one of our favorite hometown food spots and got a usual meal.. polish & fries crispy with a Coke. Then he noticed that on the receipt y’all charged an UPCHARGE TO COOK THE FOOD. $.50 to keep the already frying fries in the fryer for an additional what, 60 seconds? Are you kidding me? That’s the definition of money hungry! We’ve patronized this business for years.. we understand the price of food has gone up, we understand the need for a card fee as most smaller businesses do it… but a service fee for frying the dang on fries for an additional few seconds is CRAZY and got the nerve to tax it too. Absolutely NOT! I’m giving 2 stars for the food still being great, but y’all ought to be ashamed for that “fee”.

4/17/22: My dad and I stopped by one of our all time favorites today and per usual they didn’t disappoint! We got beefs with fries, and I also got my pineapple blueberry Italian ice! 😋 I wish I took photos to show but I devoured it before I could.😂 Thank you for always keeping that same great taste with everything!
