Aglamesis Bro's Ice Cream & Chocolates — Restaurant in Cincinnati

I'm a huge Graeter's fan. Huge. And that's not going to change. But I couldn't not try another Cincinnati ice cream. I take ice cream very seriously and need to investigate all options.

I orderd the brownie a la mode. But instead of one boring scoop of vanilla ice cream, I ordered once scoop of Black Raspberry Chip and Strawberry Chip. I usually don't get brownie sundaes at ice cream shops because I take brownies just as seriously as I take ice cream. And at most ice cream places the brownies are an after thought. They hope you won't notice that their sub-par brownie is cakey and dry because they've put their delicious ice cream on top. Well, that is certainly not the case here. Their brownies are so amazing that they are sold on their own. The consistency of this brownie is similar to fudge - super dense and rich. In my book, that's perfect. So smothering it in ice cream takes my dessert experience to a whole new level.

Now, the ice cream. If ice cream doesn't have chocolate chips, I'm probably not interested. This would explain why I love Graeter's as much as I do. And obviously, no one could possibly out do their chocolate chips. All other chocolate chips are average or even unacceptable next to Graeter's. That being said, Aglamesis chocolate chips are strongly decent. Well done. Based on the three flavors I tasted, Aglamesis ice cream definitely isn't as creamy as Graeter's or as creamy as I prefer my ice cream to be. However, it wasn't at all icy - it was perfectly smooth. And it had great flavor. The Strawberry Chip was probably my favorite, but the Black Raspberry Chip was definitely yummy as well. But I can't say I was crazy about the Double Chocolate chip. It wasn't quite rich enough for my tastes and the lack creaminess just didn't do it for me.

I have been coming to Aglamesis Bros for YEARS. I make my annual pilgrimage from West Chester to get my Giant Pecandes (I graduated from the smaller ones) and the Montgomery location is where I have been going because the service is consistent, and it's less distance.

One particular day, I came into the Hyde Park branch, and the candy attendant pulls a sign and points, saying that I now have to pay a custom packaging fee.

Now keep in mind, I was ordering JUST Pecandes in that box, and a separate box with JUST Cashewdes... the extra fee would ONLY apply if I mixed them, which the sign clearly stated. I told her that I don't eat all the candy at once, and a bag would make them stick together (the box has a lining). I tried explaining this to the attendant, who rolled her eyes and then went over to her Manager, who, reiterated that this was the policy.

She said she would help me as soon as she took care of the customers waiting at the fountain.

About 10 minutes after, she came over and got the ENTIRE story... and then had to profusely apologize because the attendant got the situation wrong- they don't charge to box identical candies together! Just imagine if I hadn't stood my ground... they would have gotten an additional fee ON TOP OF the already costly pound of candy I was getting. Since I am a patient person, I expected the attendant to apologize, but she never did.

Despite the decadent candy, it makes me have pause that it had to get to THAT POINT for me to get what I have been getting for over a decade! I know I'm not their typical clientele,...
